The negatives are clear.

The performances are uninspiring. We're a totally uninspiring 12th place in the league. We seem to have gone too far down the line of the smaller, less physical players. We miss the bite and intensity of players like Andreas. Andersen's weaknesses continue to drive how we set up across the team. Tete continues to be a player we can only rely upon to be fit 60% of the time and yet is central to how we set up with Andersen in the team (vs Castagne who doesn't fit that model). Robinson doesn't look like the Robinson we got used to; Bassey a wild card. Leno aging not so gracefully. Iwobi perhaps not the ideal fit in the middle, yet the manager never seems to prioritize central midfield in the transfer market. Berge doesn't shoot. Lukic is maybe little more than an upgrade on Reed, not the long-term answer. King profiles more as a central midfielder given his lack of end-product, but is so very slight for a midfielder in this hurly-burly era. Muniz is not doing what we hoped he would, while Raul is ending his contract and is likely to leave, as is Wilson. Bobb, Kevin, ESR have all yet to fully convince. Chuck looks like the new Manor Solomon and anyway isn't ours. So where are the goals coming from next season? And who will be leading us? Marco still hasn't worked out how to get us over the line from March, never seems to take responsibility, moans incessantly in the press despite having so much say in the transfer market and so much spent, and seems to be scraping around for an answer. He's probably leaving, or at most very reluctantly staying.

And yet...

Relegation hasn't ever realistically been a concern all season. European places look likely to go down to 8th. And we're just three points behind Brentford, who we're playing this weekend, and Everton in 7th and 8th place respectively. We're currently tied for 4th place in the form table over the last six matches. We have very few injured players. And given the various fixtures this weekend, it could all look very different come next Monday.

So despite all the very many negatives, something appears to have been working.
