I wonder if Marco has demanded a full-time, Motspur-based DoF be brought in, before he agrees to sign his new contract. Obviously this would put Tony's nose out of joint, but he could be given a new title to appease him, 'International Head of Recruitment' or something similar. Marco probably feels that a new DoF, who he can sit down with each day to discuss players, targets, etc would massively benefit him and the club (which it undoubtedly would). Could be that there's someone available who he's worked with before and is pushing for the club to hire.

Highly doubtful. Who argues "I would like you to give me a more active boss!?" More likely he's trying for more commitments on transfers, timing and amounts. More control on his side vs the tripartite system in place. Lower buy-out clause if some club comes after him. But, as Jack says, his bargaining power is slipping away by the minute!   - I was impressed to read that Hearts' surge towards the title was helped by Tony Bloom's ownership (also Brighton and Union St Galloise owner) and his data analytics model that has worked at all 3 clubs to some extent now.
