Subject: Both comments do a great job of highlighting how there's more art than science in managerial appointments. Carrick is the most recent example. A somewhat successful, but ultimately sacked, Middlesbrough manager just took over Man U and led them to being the form team in the Premier League over the second half of the season. So many variables that go into someone being the right person at the right time. Zidane at Real is another that springs to mind.
In reply to: The Man With No Name 's message, "Those three all slipped into the managers job at a club where they were at home. They succeeded for us but didn't go on to long successful management careers. Jezzard felt let down and preferred to run a pub. MacDonald had a second go at Huddersfield where he failed badly and is not remembered fondly. Mickey Adams became a lower League promotion specialist. On CV alone Marco did not seem a smart choice for us." on Tuesday, June 02, 10:10:47am
