Subject: In the kitchen with Rowan
In reply to: Rowan Silvertree 's message, "How may I worship thee?" on 22:47:51 11/11/01 Sun

Shortly after he finished speaking, Ravin's empathy picked up a strange, intense feeling coming from Laurel. It seemed to loathing, or displeasure directed at him, possibly because of the way he had described his profession. Perhaps he had made a mistake by being so blunt. Next time Laurel inquired about him, he would have to be more careful with his reply, since he didn't enjoy upsetting people who were becoming close friends.

He limped along behind Rowan when the elf led him to the kitchen. When Rowan began speaking, Ravin was surprised at the excitement he heard in his voice. "I want to be just like you, Ravin Rue."

Ravin cringed at that. There were many aspects of his life and personality that he wouldn't want to wish on anyone. He felt a little better when Rowan amended his words, saying that what he really wanted was to achieve Ravin's level of excellence one day.

For a moment, Ravin stared at the elf in puzzlement. He never realized he was so interested in the art of thievery. He listened quite attentively while Rowan rattled on about his past exploits, grinning at how proud he sounded over his accomplishments.

With mumbled thanks, he accepted the whiskey bottle then plopped down to sit on the floor, resting his back against a cabinet. Forgetting to check the label as suggested, Ravin used his teeth to pull out the cork from the bottle. He spit it across the room before taking a long drink and sighing in contentment.

His gaze shifted to Rowan when he asked if he had any advice for someone who might be willing to learn from a master. Once again, the elf surprised him by revealing that Tia was just starting out in his profession. Since meeting her earlier today, Ravin viewed her as nothing more than another female warrior. Now that he thought about it, Tia would no doubt, excel at certain aspects of his craft because of her petite frame. She should be able to crawl her way through a narrow underground passageway with ease, just like Kyri managed to do.

"Shit," he muttered when an image of his ex-wife came to his mind. A dark cast came over his face and he lowered his eyes to the floor. Would he be plagued with thoughts of Kyri for the rest of his life? Sadly, there would probably always be something that reminded him of her so he'd simply have to learn how to deal with it.

As he gulped more whiskey, he became aware of Rowan staring at him with eager anticipation written all over his face. "My besss advice is never to get caught," he said, the words coming out a bit slurred. "And if you do get caught, be ready to fast-talk your way out of things."

Ravin rubbed his eyes when his vision blurred, then took another swig of whiskey. "Actually, before you go messing around with highly illegal pursuits, you should get yourself tossed in the local prison for a day because of something minor like a bar brawl. That way you get the opportunity to check out the facilities from the inside and formulate an escape route for future use."

Ravin chuckled while lifting the bottle to his lips again. After wiping his mouth in a sleeve he continued, the words becoming more and more slurred as he went on. "It always helps ta lift a set a keys off one a the guards before your release. Then you rush to have duplicates made before you drop the originals back near the prison grounds so that the guard who was missing them thinks he was clumsy enough to drop them there in the first place."

Aggravated by the unruly strands of hair that kept falling into his bloodshot eyes, he pushed them aside somewhat angrily then smiled at Rowan. "So you say that Tia is just starting out, eh? I been thinking about taking on an apprentice. Do you think she'd go for something like that?"
