Tristan watched carefully from the sidelines as Erlic guided Marz through the steps for meditation. The jumping jacks he thought were a little queer, but he didn’t say anything. He moved back a few steps to give them room, reaching for the cigarette he’d laid aside a few minutes earlier. Once Marz was calm and breathing easily again with his eyes closed, Erlic startled Tristan by catching hold of his arm and pulling him off to the side for a bit. He gave Erlic a surprised look when he told him that he should try to lead Marz through the exercises next.

Me? he thought, but he supposed it wouldn’t be all that difficult. Besides, it would be kind of fun, telling Marz what to do for a whole twenty minutes or so. After one more quick pull, he tossed the cigarette out the window and positioned himself in front of Marz, who’d had a chance to rest for a few minutes. Tristan felt stupid, jumping in place for ten minutes, especially since he couldn’t quite suppress the urge to cough several times during the exercise. Okay, so maybe next time Erlic should warn him he’d be doing this, and he’d know better than to smoke right before he began.

It was hard not to laugh as he and Marz did the jumping thing, but after that initial silliness, the rest was easy, with the guided instructions and all. Plus, Tristan could finally catch his breath, and he occasionally shot Erlic looks of intense annoyance while he tried to talk Marz through his meditation. Soon enough, it was all over again, with Erlic giving him praise on a job well done. Tristan beamed before he realized what he was doing, happy as always to receive a compliment, no matter how little.

Once Erlic left the room, he turned to Marz, who looked oddly rather tired. “I feel really tired all of a sudden,” he said, confirming Tristan’s assumption. When he suggested they get some sleep, Tristan raised an eyebrow, not used to such a sedate end to the evening. He shrugged and nodded, even though he himself wasn’t at all tired, especially since he’d gotten a light nap just a few hours ago.

He hadn’t worked up a sweat as much as Marz had, who’d done the jumping thing twice, so he simply pressed the wet towel to his face a bit before following Marz to the bed. He could just take a nice long bath tomorrow morning…no, but wait, he would have to share those damned public bathing rooms with half a dozen other people. If only there were some other way…

Sighing, he slipped under the bed covers, only then bothering to remove his clothing, since he didn’t like the idea of someone bursting in while he was parading around the room naked. Almost immediately, he had Marz snuggling up against him, but he only rolled his eyes at that before closing them and settling down. A couple nights ago, he’d tried to move over a few feet since Marz tended to suffocate him with his iron-lock hugs while he slept. But come morning, he’d awakened to find that his unconsciously determined lover had migrated to his side of the bed yet again, resisting all efforts at escape. Tristan decided to just throw in the hat.

I guess I don’t mind it so much, anyway, he thought with a smile, finally drifting off to sleep.

~*~*~*~Bridget is Cool!~*~*~*~

He thought he hadn’t been too sleepy, but when he awoke, it was to the bright stream of sunlight pouring into his face. He groaned, having never been a morning person, and pulled the covers up over his head. In the blanket-created darkness, he peered idly at the hand thrown over his waist---and suddenly sat up in bed, a wide-eyed look on his face.

“Wake up!” he said, shaking Marz briskly with both hands before he turned and jumped out of the bed. Quickly, he pulled his clothes back on, not even realizing that they were the same clothes he’d been wearing yesterday. He turned around and scowled at Marz, who yawned indolently and stared at him, blinking in the sunlight.

“Hurry up, get dressed, let’s go!” he urged, dragging his friend out of bed and fussing at him until he was fully decent. Before he could protest, Tristan grabbed him by the wrist and rushed out of the room, making a beeline for the bathing room.

Finally, he would be able to use the facilities in private! He cackled in his early morning glee, proud of himself for being so clever. Surely, no one would be up at this early hour. It was barely even dawn, and judging from the lack of noise coming from behind the closed doors of the other guest rooms, they were the only two awake so far. Rather triumphantly, he pushed the door to the men’s bathing room open, still grinning like an idiot. But the grin quickly faded from his face when he saw the passed out figure of Ravin lying on the marble-tiled floor.

“What?” he yelled, staring down at the man and clenching his fists angrily. How dare the mangy little human spoil his grand plan of the first peaceful bath he could finally have in days? Just once, he wanted to not worry about being embarrassed, and here this guy was, as if to mock him even in his sleepy repose.

“That does it,” he growled, whirling around and going out the door again. He grabbed his sword and, turning to the door leading to the women’s room, scratched the words “NO” above Women with the tip. Not caring if Marz followed or not, Tristan strode angrily into the room which was, thankfully, empty. Quickly, he kicked off his clothes and settled into the water, after first grabbing some soap and sponge. He tried to relax, he really did, but the spoiling of his immaculate plan had ruined the peaceful morning he’d intended upon having.
