“Hey, do you ever sleep, or don’t you have to?” Corum asked Barry as he got ready for bed. “I know it sounds stupid, but like do you really sleep?”

"Eh... not really, Chief," Barry replied. "I'm not alive per se so I don't need to sleep. I guess I rest a little sometimes... you know, sit down on a table and don't float around or rattle my bonebox. But I don't get all unconscious and dream or anything." His voice took on a wistful sort of tone. "I kinda miss that."

As Corum drifted off to sleep Barry floated out the window and looked around the cavern for a bit. He wondered for the zillionth time why he was here and what he was supposed to help Corum with. And this time, hopefully, nobody would kill him (he could be smashed and "killed" in a way... he just always came back somewhere else damn the Powers) or bury him or any of the other things that people who got fed up with him tended to do. "Guess I'll find out soon enough," he muttered to himself as he floated back into the house where Corum slept and settled onto a table to wait.

Finally Corum stirred and Barry immediately zipped up off the table. "C'mon Chief rise and shine. Let's see who won the damn Treasure Hunt and get a move on already."

For some reason Barry was feeling strangely restless today.
