Author: Marz and Jeremy
Subject: Ain't no itsy bitsy spiders here
In reply to: Jade 's message, "Jeepers Creepers" on 02:32:21 03/01/02 Fri

While Marz helped Jade move the stone altar, he realized his body was shaking slightly and that his left shoulder hurt like hell. The shaking was probably an after affect of being severely shocked by the trapped lever, and the shoulder……well, he was pretty sure it was dislocated from slamming into the wall. Marz was not about to let such minor nuisances stop him from doing what needed to be done. He gritted his teeth and pushed the altar, applying most of the pressure to his right arm.

Because he was still a little uncoordinated due to the shock his body received, he was slow to react to the spider that scurried out from the stairway they had uncovered. After finally getting his fingers to curl around his sword hilt he withdrew the blade, but there was no need to aid Jade any longer since Erlic promptly came to her rescue. Immediately, Marz turned his attention to another spider that crept toward him.

Marz dove out of the way when he saw a white, gauzy substance fly at him from the creature. As the spider's web trapping material hit the wall, the ex-gang leader came to his feet alongside of it, plunging his blade into its bulbous body. Sticky, blackish blood squirted forth, a little mist splashing into Marz's face. Momentarily blinded, he back stepped quickly with rubbing at the burning sensation in his eyes. One of the spider's long legs reached out to grab his ankle, but Jeremy appeared just then, his sword slicing off the creature's offending appendage. The otherworldly youth retracted his blade then quickly put an end to the spider's life.

Marz blinked rapidly, tears welling up in his eyes to cleanse them. He heard Tristan's shout to hit the floor but before he react on his own, Jeremy grabbed his left arm, pulling his forcefully to the ground. The pain that shot through Marz's shoulder was so intense he nearly bashed Jeremy in the head with his sword hilt. Although they were now lying on the floor, the otherworldly youth continued to tug at him. "Let go of my raking arm, you little prick!" Marz hissed.

Once Jeremy released his grip, Marz breathed a sigh of relief then turned his attention to the spiders that were now engulfed in flames. The room rapidly filled with smoke and the stench of burning flesh, sending quite a few people into coughing fits. Thankfully, the hole in the roof, along with the open front door, provided enough ventilation for the smoke to dissipate quickly.

Jeremy jumped to his feet, rushing off to join Saras who held the torch, while Marz sauntered over to Tristan. He sheathed his sword and grinned at the dragon. "I love it when you throw an impromptu bar-b-que." Marz was filled with a number of conflicting emotions the first time he saw Tristan assume dragon form, but now he simply accepted it as another awe inspiring aspect of his soulmate.

He was about to ask Tristan if he could pull his shoulder back into place but forgot about the intended request when he saw the burns on his lover's palms. "Let's get you over to Val so he can put some salve on those hands." On their way to the healer, Marz noticed Argus kneeling on the floor gaping at Tristan. Using his right hand, he helped the man to his feet. "Tris makes one hellava, sleek fierce-ass dragon, don't you think?" he asked, smiling at Argus.
