Isobel nodded to Tristan when he asked if she was all right, assuming he meant in combat rather than inquiring about her injuries. "Si... these creatures are estupido," she replied.

There was a slight lull in the combat where they were and before she had a chance to rush off to send her next victim to the dust, she looked to Tristan, who was fingering a large tear in his shirt. “I never thanked you for saving Marz,” he said. “Last night…from that thing in the lake. Well…thanks.”

Isobel was as surprised as he was. "You... you are welcome. I am certain any of these people would have done the same for me." She did not add that she would have conveniently been occupied elsewhere if it had been the repulsive Justin who was the creature's next meal.

Tristan had just saluted her with his sword, to her great astonishment, when another mant reared its ugly head near the dragon and yet another had turned and sped toward her. She snarled at the thing as Tristan moved to confront the other creature. Isobel raised her sword slashing at the thing, but it dodged and stabbed at her. Fortunately she was able to slide out of the way in time and she lunged at it, ramming her sword into the creature's abdomen. She yanked her sword free as the thing screamed and slashed at her, taking off a small slice of skin from her shoulder. But this opened up the creature's guard and she stabbed it in the neck, ending its miserable life.

Another roar from her left... she pulled a dagger and quickly threw it, impaling the mant in one of its eyes as she pulled her sword from the fallen one's neck. She raised her sword and lopped the blinded creature's head off (she seemed to favor beheading today). In the thing's death throes, however, its arm jerked and its sword stabbed deeply into her thigh. "Ay!!!" she hissed in pain and fell to the ground atop the dead mant. Swearing loudly in Español, Isobel quickly ripped a piece of cloth from her ragged cloak and tied it around her leg to staunch the bleeding. She pushed herself to her feet and staggered toward another of the creatures, seeming to draw strength from her grip on her sword. But the monster was felled by an arrow from Laurel's bow so Isobel turned to seek out another of the numerous creatures that seemed endlessly pouring from the ground.

"If we get atop the rocks, they cannot pop up under our feet!" She shouted to whoever might be listening. She made a run for a rock formation that was well away from the one Tia and Laurel occupied, figuring that it would be best to draw the creatures away from Tia while she was still nearly blind. She was of the opinion that they should have left such a handicap behind, but she knew to keep her tongue about such things for now.

She stumbled on her way to the rocks, however, as her thigh (which had bled through the makeshift bandage and was trickling blood down her leg) burned painfully. She turned just in time to see a mant bearing down on her, too close to get her sword up. She spit in its face and braced herself to feel its sword in her flesh, her fingers closing on Muerte. "I will not die easily," she snarled defiantly.

*~*~*~*~*~*

Barry was rolling on the ground pathetically yelling about dirt in his eye. "Someone get it OUT!" he shouted. No one seemed to understand that of course he couldn't get it out himself. The fact that they were all pretty busy with those weird bug things apparently eluded him.

He flew up off the ground cursing and landed hard on the back of one of the creatures. "You are one UUUUGLY bug, berk," he commented as it twisted a little trying to slash at him. Then he bit the back of its neck off, spitting out the chitin and chewing his way clear through with his razor sharp teeth until the creature dropped to the ground dead.

"That'll learn ya!" he cackled as he flew off to help the addle-cove, who was hollering about "clobbering time".

"Chief, you got a way with words," he said as he watched Corum dispose of the creature he had been fighting. "Now I'm happy," Corum commented, to Barry's puzzlement but hey... the cutter was an addle-cove so what could you ex-- "HO! Look out, Chief there's one behind you!" he shouted just as a mant loomed to Corum's rear. He rammed into the thing's sword arm just as it was about to slash at Corum, sending one of its dual swords to the ground, where it stuck point down in the dirt. "You can thank me later," Barry said as Corum turned brandishing Yorik at the new threat.

Barry wished his damn eye would stop watering... someone might think he was crying. "Will SOMEbody get this dirt out of my eye!?" he yelled.
