Corum was having a hard time trying to understand Barry, and he hoped that the skull, and Marz wouldn’t come to blows with each other. He’d have to make sure that it didn’t happen.

Well eventually the crew headed out, and it seemed that everything was back to normal, if normal could be even considered anything in a dessert. After traveling a good time, with no skirmishes to speak of, Marz suddenly piped up stating he heard singing. Try as he could, Corum couldn’t hear a thing, and wondered if Marz maybe had flipped a bit. But soon enough, Barry came back stating there were some tents in the distant, and that there was singing going on.

They headed forward, and finally came to the camp. Corum’s head went up, and up, and up, after seeing the man who had come to greet them. Man was he like really tall! Fortunately he seemed to be in a good mood, and invited everyone back to the camp. That was fine by him because he was now starving.

They met the so-called leader, and were then huddled to the food room. That was all Corum needed. He quickly found some fruit, and it was juicy to the taste. Of course Brat, and Eyes were getting their fill as well. Corum looked around for Barry, and wondered where the skull had disappeared. Shrugging his shoulders, the youth dug into some of the more elaborate, and more filling foodstuffs, eager to satisfy his ravenous hunger.

Valhorek didn’t like the idea of leaving so quickly, but was sure that if Erlic thought it necessary, then it would have to do. Tia looked like she could rest, and the constant traveling was probably doing her more harm than good. She should have remained in a safe place where she could rest, but considering the circumstances, the only safe place at the moment was with the band of adventurers.

He was also with the female fighter Isobel. Although she retorted her displeasure of being carried, she managed to hold her own, although Val was sure that the pain was probably very intense. She would need a good night’s rest to make sure that leg healed somewhat properly, and even then, after the constant pressure being applied to it, would probably cause it to swell as well.

So for those reasons alone, the healer was glad that a camp was in the far distance, and he hoped that they would be able to remain the night there, and heal up for those that needed it. Once they arrived at the area, the healer was quite impressed to see the magnitude of the large tents, and for good reason. Most of the personnel were quite tall.

He had heard Alakbar remark about the Jann, and Val was surprised to finally actually meet the race. He had heard much about them, but had never gotten the chance to encounter any of them. Perhaps one of them was a healer, and Val could trade notes with the individual. It was a thought to ponder.

After meeting Sheikh, and his most adorable daughter, the group was escorted to another camp where food had been served. Valhorek immediately found some good whiskey. He poured himself a glass, and relished the good strong flavor it afforded him. It had been a long day. Hopefully now, everyone would get the chance to rest.

Once Ravin had left the area, Erlic contemplated the assassins, and how possibly to handle them. There were a good amount of assassins following them, and only one amongst the traveling group. He didn’t include Rowan for he wasn’t aware of the man’s capabilities. Perhaps it was time to take him aside, and find out just how much he really did know. Perhaps Erlic had an ally with him. Only time would tell.

“Surely, you have nothing you would keep from me, Erlic?”

Erlic tuned quietly to see Laurel standing before him. He knew that she would offer her services should the need arise for she did so with finesse. Although his features didn’t reveal it, he was surprised that she even had bothered to speak to him, especially after that incident at Queen Kazabet’s mansion.

Although he had tried to speak to Tia about how to converse with a woman, it seemed that that interlude was short lived, and it was then they had found Alakbar. Erlic had been too busy on more important matters such as the assassins to worry about how to converse with the lovely druid. He appreciated her forthright manner, but obviously he had a lot to learn about how to present himself.

“Actually,” Erlic began. “I was explaining to Ravin how Marz was suffering from the affects of the first Chakra.” Not knowing if Laurel was aware of the Seven Chakras, he gave her a brief description of their functions. “And so it’s Marz journey into the first Chakra, which also affects his hearing, that has given him this rather sensitive form of hearing that no one else could possibly comprehend.”

Erlic spotted Ravin getting the others ready to move out. He spotted the grit of teeth on Isobel’s face as she tried to move of her own will. He realized that she would accept help from no one, but if things got desperate, he would simply throw her over his shoulder, despite her ranting. He turned his attention back to Laurel. “I realize that you would offer your services, and for that I’m thankful. Perhaps the next time we have a chance to rest we can converse further.”

He smiled before gathering his own belongings, and taking his place at the end of the line. He continued to constantly watch his back for any signs of danger as the group continued their journey.

The journey was not bad, and soon Marz stated something about hearing a song. Barry soon confirmed his student’s unique hearing, and soon they were within eyesight of the camp. It was Ardesmar that greeted them, and Erlic hoped that they would find a safe haven amongst them. He contemplated whether he should tell them that they were being followed or not.

After meeting Sheikh Daraba they were led out of the tent. Erlic took another look at the man, and wondered if he could be trusted. He promised them some time to converse later, and would look forward to their talk. He couldn’t help but notice Safina, the raven-haired beauty. Erlic turned with a smile on his face, wondering just how many men had made the wrong advances toward her, and gotten a hand cut off, or some other part of their body. That was one person to shy away from.

Erlic helped himself to the food, and drink, and kept watching the horizon for any signs of trouble. Although he, and the others, were in the Jann’s camp, that didn’t mean the assassin wouldn’t attempt an attack, although it was highly unlikely anything would transpire during the light of the sun. The cover of nighttime, on the other hand, was a different story all together. Chances were good they would choose that time, after everyone was sound asleep, to make their move.

Erlic spotted Rowan in the distance, and moved in his direction. In a whisper the assassin spoke to the elf. “Hopefully, after we’ve met with the Sheikh, you and I can have a few words. I’d like to talk to you about your knowledge of Shado, and what it truly represents.”

The guild master hoped that was enough to peak the man’s curiosity. For now he would enjoy the food, and drink that were offered. He had no idea what was to come once night had fallen.
