Since Ravin wasn't a big eater, he decided to forego the rest of his breakfast in favor of working with the shurikens. Now that he knew how to hold them properly, his main goal was learning how to throw them accurately. As far as Ravin was concerned, there was no time like the present to start practicing.

He moved a good distance away from the others. Most of his attention was on the shurikens, yet he listened intently for anything out of the ordinary. Assassins were experts at stealth, but knowing they might be lurking about gave Ravin and his companions a bit of an edge. Being prepared was often the best line of defense when it came to surviving an attack. As long as they didn't let their guard down, the odds of the assassins getting the better of them was reduced.

The ability to finally throw a shuriken without slicing his hand in the process made him grin. He managed to hit the target he aimed at only once out of six tries, but he was confident that would improve over time. Determination made him at expert with throwing knives, and that same determination would lead him to succeed with the shurikens as well.

After a while, Ravin replaced the sharp projectiles in the special case at his side then went to gather his gear from the cave he stored it in the night before. Once he had his pack strewn across his back, he crouched down and wrote out the alphabet in the dirt with a dagger. He planned on doing this at least once a day in order to remember how each letter was formed. I should have asked Erlic if he knows how to spell Kyri's name, he thought while printing out his own beneath the haphazardly drawn letters.

When he finished his handiwork Ravin stood up, frowning after he took a closer look at the rows of letters. He would be the first to admit that they looked as if a drunken chicken scrawled them out. He shrugged then recited the entire alphabet twice before leaving the cave and rejoining the others by the campfire.

The thief poured a mug of java, his eyes constantly scanning the surrounding area as he sipped the hot beverage. According to Alakbar, his captives delivered food to their prisoners in the later part of the morning. Hopefully, we'll be long gone by then, he thought, since the sun is only now beginning to rise. They needed to put as much distance as possible between themselves and the assassins before they took off to hunt for their escaped prisoner. If he and his companions took the time to cover their tracks sufficiently, the assassins shouldn't be able to find them, and that would be one less thing to worry about.
