Erlic had hoped that his explanation about why he was stalling was understood by Laurel. He would have preferred speaking to her a bit more, until he felt a bit unusual. At first he wasn’t sure of the sensation, but then suddenly realized that it was coming not from within, but from Marz.

His student was in a total, and complete relaxed state, which for Marz, was something that was extremely difficult to attain. The assassin at first attributed the sensation to Marz, and Tristan constantly practicing the art of getting into the meditation situation, as he had prescribed some days ago. It was best for both Marz, and Tristan to do this exercise together so that Marz would understand, and comprehend what was needed to enter the first world of the Chakra.

The necessity of calmness, and quietness would help the youth achieve his goal. Without the needed exercises it would wind up as a lesson in futility. Such was the nature of Chakra, but in the case of Marz, it was a matter of closing the chakras, rather than opening them. Many of the ancients practiced long and hard simply to reach an old age, and find that they had managed to open all of the chakras, thus exposing themselves to total bliss, and happiness.

Suddenly Erlic felt another sensation that should not have been attributed to the meditation, one of panic, fear, engulfment, and total paranoia. Something had gone wrong, and he felt the need to look in on his student.

“Excuse me Laurel,” Erlic stated. “But there are matters I must attend to.”

With that he excused himself from the druid, and made his way to the cave where both Marz, and Tristan had settled. He looked in to find Marz being embraced by Tristan, and saying: "Please........don't make me do this again."

Erlic simply shook his head. His student had foolishly gone ahead, and attempted the first chakra by himself without any supervision, and without any guidance as to what might happen when he entered that first state. Although the guild master wouldn’t push his student at the moment, it was impervious that Marz realize the importance of closing all the chakras. As it stood at this moment, any mage who was smart enough, and most mages were, had but to look at Marz with the mage sight, and see the immense outward pouring of energy flowing wildly. It would be quite easy for a mage to simply render Marz unconscious, and then draw as he would from the youth, until either Marz collapsed, or until the mage realized he could not control the enormous amounts of power, thus killing both he, and the youth.

The assassin started to use the link to calm Marz down. It was senseless at this point, to invoke any anger for it would merely put him at a disadvantage, and his student would never bother to attempt the chakras again.

“It’s quite easier,” Erlic spoke in a whisper so as not to frighten his student. “Once you understand what there is, and how to cope with it.”

Marz started to explain how terrible the whole experience was, and that he never wished to do it again. “I cannot force you to do anything Marz,” Erlic began. “But you must admit to yourself the consequences of what could possibly happen if a mage finds you. Then you will have no recourse but to become his slave, and I’m sure that’s not an option you’d gladly undertake.”

Erlic paused a moment hoping that his words would sink into Marz. During this time, Erlic continued to pass along comforting feelings through the link in order to calm his student. “The idea of venturing into the chakra is to have someone with experience with you when you do attempt it. All I wanted was for you to practice getting into the meditative state.”

The guild master wasn’t going to place blame on anyone. There were more important issues to deal with, mainly staying alive. He had to convince Marz that venturing forth into the world of chakras was for his own benefit. “What you weren’t aware of Marz,” Erlic continued. “Was regardless of what you saw, it was a feeling only in your mind, and wasn’t really happening. Had I been here, I could have guided you through the chakra’s cycle without the extensive fear that overcame you. It is not as bad as it seemed because you didn’t know what to do. You had to open your eyes, and simply leave, but you were afraid, and thought you were trapped.”

Marz had grown quite calm during this interval, and for now that would have to do. It would take a lot of encouragement simply to coax the youth to undergo this endeavor once again, and this time it would be extremely difficult. Had Marz merely practiced the meditation, and nothing else, everything would have worked fine. But as fate would have it, other criteria came to pass, thus nullifying his attempt into this enlightening world of chakras.

“For now simply rest considering we’ll be leaving shortly. We’ll talk about it again, but simply think about it. It takes but one mage to find this power, and, other mages can feel it. Once they find you, there will be no hiding you, or protecting you. Once they have you….”

Erlic let the last statement linger hoping that both Marz, and Tristan, especially Tristan, would find a way to work the matter out. The dragon was his student’s best friend, lover, and confidante. If Tristan cared for Marz the way Erlic believed he did, then the dragon would attempt to help his student in this matter. What was done could be undone.

Erlic turned from the cave, and stepped outside. It was going to be a long day, and he wondered if any of the after affects of the first chakra would start to limit Marz. From what he felt, it seemed that Marz had managed to actually enter the earth, to see the growth, the feeding, the nurturing of the land to vegetation, and vice versa. But that soon was replaced by a fear, which immediately counteracted any positive affects the journey should have had.
