Here is the email I received from Tom today.....
The station's network is struggling and they are hurting a lot financially.. My job was elimanated period.. The ratings were on the way up...even though there were all those basketball games with St.John's and the nets both on the station. Now for you I am keeping my powder dry . Meanwhile WPHT seems to be a total basket case.

Here's the trend for the last 4 months - 12 plus
2.9 - 3.2 - 3.6 - 3.9. For the month of May the station did a 4.5. Middays in men 18 plus (Beck & Rush) WPHT was number 1 with a 7.6 share. These numbers were released today. Programming the station is easy. Whatever posters on this board suggest you simply do the opposite and the ratings go up. Follow the opinions and end up going down.
Feel free to post a witty response to justify your opinion. The audience has spoken. Deal with it.

Since you are inside I'm sure you know the hour by hour is not available on trends. It is only available when the book is issued next month. However, Look at it this way - if the average of the two shifts (10am to noon & noon to 3pm) is a 7.6 and Rush has the bulk of the numbers he would have to have a HUGE aqh (think 13 share or more) for Beck to have the numbers he had when he first went on. That would be double the number Rush has ever done. Possible?...I suppose...probable?..no. I know you will all hate to hear this but my guess is that both are up nicely. We'll see next month with the spring release.

Ok just a look at Beck's #'s hour by hour in previous books
that are available. Pitful at best. There is also the lame
excuse that Beck would do better with a better lead in
then Imus. Huge Joke to say the least. If it were the case
MAS would have had great #'s after Rush. Unfortunately he
ain't got'em

Ok folks - I can see this is an angry group. I simply post actual numbers from the latest trend mid-day and get accused of lying. I try to explain the numbers (trust me I know how they work) and make an observation to which I get an anti-Pht editorial and told they don't make sense. I'm not talking about the past, lead-ins, MAS,or Imus. There is no link to the numbers. They do not exist as the book is not out until July. When they come out they can be trended with books from the past year. I would do it for you but you will only figure I'm lying again and not making sense. Look at the growth of 1210 over the past year. (check it out at RRonline.com) Where do you think it's coming from?
That Mangio cheese guy on Saturday night? No wonder Surf wants to be left alone. Come to think of it, so do I.

There is an undertone of hostility with almost all talk listeners these days. Even the ones that still listen a lot are pissed off about something. That's whay happens when you have one major-signal station left in town. Many other big markets have more than 2 viable talkers and some have 2 in the top ten. average of Beck for the last year hour-by-hour 12+ and of
course in the all important 25-54 demo.
