Subject: The companies don't necessarily agree or disagree; they just avoid controversy. So while my stand is based on my principles and what I believe is right, the 'fraidy-cat advertisers' bailout is based on fear. Fear of diminished sales maybe, but fear nonetheless. So by showing the companies that merely avoiding the situation does not automatically shield them from a negative sales impact, they may be forced to confront the issues. And wouldn't ~that~ be fun to watch!

[> [> [> [> [> Not completely sure, but that might be the silliest thing I've seen here. You want to boycott companies for NOT sponsoring a show. Let's all let that sink it for a minute shall we? Maybe we should also insist that that pay double the normal rate in order to avoid this boycott. Better yet, lets just insist that they send Savage the money directly, and sell the time to somebody else! -- Rockford- (whew), 15:10:35 03/25/03 Tue

[> [> [> [> [> [> 'Whew' is right. If this is over your head, when we start debating war specifics over the next few weeks, your head's positively gonna explode. Just as a refresher course, the companies concerned here actively requested that their previously scheduled ads not be run during Savage in response to threats by GLAAD. This was not an act of omission, but commission. Feel better now? I didn't think so. -- The Tilde Files, 17:24:15 03/25/03 Tue

[> [> [> [> [> [> [> [> It's like this: Companies pull ads from show taking on hypocritical BSers, due to pressure from same hypocritical group which distorts truth to push agenda, and then whines 'discrimination" when people don't buy into the hypocrisy. Show puncturing hypocrisy goes away, group lives on to whine "discrimination" another day. You want that? I don't. Pussy-ass companies could care less, taking path of least resistance. Plan: make path of least resistance look less attractive. -- Scott "attempting to 'splain it all to you" Tilde, 00:46:29 04/02/03 Wed
