Subject: Snow daze 1: Fig's out? Wow. (more)

I was at the station when Fig was there and I thought he was pretty cool. Although I lost a lot of respect for him for hiring Sil Scaglione. Chris Claus was one of the finer executives I've encountered in my lifetime. I'm not interested enough to research the numbers, but really, are the stations doing any better now?

[> The one thing I remember about Bill Figenshu is that when he was put in charge of figuring out what to do with WNEW(FM) in New York, he said that the station had no legacy since it had never lead in the rock ratings. That's like saying WMMR was insignificant until John DeBella arrived. I-G-N-O-R-A-N-T. And he hired Sil "I did NOT send that e-mail" Scaglione? I think I'm getting a sour stomach. -- Tilde Again (this is what you get on a snow day!), 16:46:18 12/05/02 Thu

[> Wonder what his departure will mean for the current PHT management. He was responsible for hiring the GM and promoting the PD. It can't help, that's for sure. -- Bogey, 23:13:55 12/06/02 Fri

[> [> This won't help management's job security... or PHT's ratings. This city once had a talk station with twice the ratings PHT has, and PHT appears to have peaked out. But what can new management do? The only real weak spots in the lineup are Beck and Imus, neither of whom appear to be going anywhere. Or is Infinity satisfied with a 3-share? They shouldn't be... -- "Vince From Villanova" (Never settle.), 14:28:28 12/07/02 Sat

[> [> [> Until they can get rid of Beck and maybe Imus and replace them with something that grabs ratings (something local perhaps?) PHT's overall numbers are not going to improve. Lose Beck and Imus, up Katz and Dom's hours, and add Hannity. That should be a good start. -- Tilde, 02:20:44 12/08/02 Sun

Hannity on tape 6-9pm, O'Reilly on tape 9-11pm, then Rollye and Art Bell overnight. -- "Vince from Villanova" (While I'm dreaming, how 'bout *ME* 9am-Noon?), 23:16:45 12/08/02 Sun

[> Before WPHT becomes a real talk station, it will need to get rid of more of its bumbling management- both national and on Monument Avenue -- Chris, 10:14:57 12/07/02 Sat

It's a panic that WPHT promotes Beck as being "local" because he broadcasts from Philadelphia. It's a nationaly syndicated show. DAH! There is nothing "local" about it.
