Subject: Read my views on Sinatra
In reply to: Captn Hank 's message, "Sinatra" on 15:15:20 11/10/02 Sun

Sinatra is the most overrated performer of all time. When Elvis helped usher in the rock and roll era, he made Sinatra irrelevant. Sinatra wrote, influenced and innovated nothing. There were plenty of similar crooners before him. After Elvis, only blue hairs and mobsters in Vegas were interested. The Rock and roll era makes everything before it less important. Are there any new artists performing his style of music today? NO. Elvis had excitement and charisma that Sinatra never had. There is a direct lineage from Elvis to the Beatles to Led Zeppelin to Nirvana to Incubus and so on. Rock and roll will always be with us. Elvis is the inspiration for every kid in a garage with an old guitar and a beat up amp. Who did Sinatra influence? Harry Connick Jr.? Sinatra is way down the list of important musical artists of the 20th century. I know Elvis wrote very few songs and stole from black artists, he is not perfect, but he taught us how to rock. Sinatra was a nice singer but he went the way of the Dinosaurs.

I'm also LMAO, I would be the first to admit that I couldn't carry a tune in a truck. Not my claim to fame.

What's in store for you now after your exit from "THE SOPRANOS"?
