Subject: It's not funny to hear unsuspecting callers being goofed on? But one would have to ask, are the callers actual plants and simply part of the gag? We know that there are "color callers" that are paid to be regulars on various shows.
In reply to: "Vince from Villanova" (Is your fridge running? Go catch it! *click*) 's message, "Phil has a gift: the ability to quickly and convincingly switch voices to sound like two different people. But although it's difficult to do and impressive in its own right, it's not particularly entertaining on its own. Sad to say, neither are Phil's bits. I give him credit for a unique concept and for having the guts to skewer a radio format that can take itself way too seriously. But he's just not funny. And yes, I get the joke. It's still not funny." on 01:49:32 11/23/02 Sat

[> [> [> [> Some may be plants; most are probably new listeners, since Phil frequently announces his own gimmick between bits. And I'll admit, the first time I listened, I laughed my head off. The second time, I didn't, because there wasn't anything truly new about the show: same gimmick, same sorts of callers expressing the same sorts of outrage. Only the "guest" and the topic changed. -- "Vince from Villanova" (Can I please speak with Haywood Jablome?), 08:26:00 11/25/02 Mon
