Hi I'm new to your forum and I have been reading the posts, some of them I've found very informative which seems to be the general idea. Parents helping parents make the best decisions for they're children.

I recently went to an International Talent Showcase. I heard their ad on radio and like the other parents here said "well dang my kids are good looking and talented, why not?"

We went to the appointed place. Brought the requested photo. Filled out the forms at which time we were all led to a big room with a little runway stage. The woman went through her speel told us how you should never pay upfront fee's etc. etc. Then she called the groups by sections of numbers and catigory. First models, then acting, singing and finally dancing. after which she told us callbacks would be the next day and of course the all important convention price, what it would encompass and that we should try to get sponsors.

After all this I did like many of you. I went home got on my computer and did some research. I found that no one really said anything bad about this paticular company. What I did find was this.....

1)States require these agencys to be legally bonded.
This one was not.
2)It is illeagle in New York State and Most of the others to accept or charge advance fees for a number of diffrent services including training, photo's, etc. For further information go to the SAG website or your states department of consumer affairs site.
This is exactly what their asking the fee for
3)Most modeling agencies will be more than happy to take your photo's and in fact offer open casting calls.Further most agencies have set business hours and do not conduct them at the times being offered by these companies.

4)The owner of this paticular agency worked for and left amta agency or imta(sorry can't remember the exact acronym). Which dateline did a piece on paticularly in regards to modeling conventions.

So here are my conclusions, at the time of writting this we recieved a call from ITA telling us our son had gotten the callback. After watching him preform I've come to the conclusion that I will help him follow this path if it's what he wants, just not with this company.

When faced with this seeming opertunity it's easy to get caught up in the fervor of the moment. After all their selling you hopes and dreams in a very compelling pakage. Further I can't honestly say that this is 100% a scam because it's not. You will get exactly what you pay for a CHANCE- not a garantee of work. When making your decision try to put aside the emotional and look at the practical. Would you go to the store and buy the most expensive product or would you try a little consumer savy and shop for the same product at a better price.
The money these companies are asking for is no small thing. If your like me you have a budget and every penny counts. Yet at the same time you don't want to sacrafice your childs chance at greatness over something like cash. And therin lies the problem. I think these companies are very aware of what lengths a hopeful prent or perspective talent might go to.

If you can afford it go have fun but if not wait theres a better way for you that won't strangle your pocket.

GOOD LUCK to ALL of you!!

Hello! I decided to post another message regarding The Great American Model Search, aka Model Management, aka Aquarian Associates. As stated in my previous message, Aquarian Associates IS A JOKE!!!! I do not know who this woman named "Charolette" is, claiming that her son "Tyler" has received numerous opportunities through this company. Opportunities with this company DO NOT EXIST!!!! I used to work there!!!! I am not an aspiring model who is upset for being turned down, I am a former scam artist too!!!! My guess is that Sam Manfredi or (or his wife Marilyn) created that wonderful message. Notice that there isn't any other positive feedback? Funny how only one person has "received work"!!! If Sam or Marilyn are not behind this, then it is probably the work of Elaine Zucarelli, or Paul Witt (partners in the scam). Or perhaps it was Steven S. Snyder (self-proclaimed "Hollywood Agent"). I do not believe it is an actual post. Sam is always trying to cover himself. PLEASE, do not fall for this ridiculous scam. How legit is it that they oporate under different names? Paul Witt flies around from city to city claiming to be an "Agent" with his sidekick Lisa. These people ARE NOT agents!!!!! Read my previous post. They used to be located in Monroeville, oporating under the name John Casablanca's. Then they moves to Forrest Hills, as Model Management. Now they are in Penn Hills still ripping people off. When you see Sam, ask him about "Little Rascals"- another one of his scams from years ago!!! Take my word for it, save your money, and run .........Fast! Try a reputable agency in Pittsburgh, like The Talent Group, or Docherty. And whoever this "Charolette" person is, nice try, you are not who you say you are......I GUARANTEE IT!!! The day will come when you are all exposed, and you can no longer make a career out of ripping people off!

I want to thank you for coming forward any exposing them.
Even though i have lost some money. I will not be losing any more time or money for that matter. I was suppose to go to the search in July @ the raddison in greentree. I wish i would have known what i know now, but i will not be attending. I was suppose to do it last year but i got hurt an could not attend, but since i was already paid in full. I would automaticaly go this year. Well after some research an reading the comments. I have decided to just eat the money. An for get about going to the thing. I was fooled an i won't make a fool out of myself again. An i could do something else that day instead of wasting my time being scammed anymore then they already have. Once again thank you.

I do not usually post on here, we are fairly new to the industry, but we live in NC and are very good friends with Charlotte and her son. Our sons are like brothers. She is a real lady and her son is doing awesome! They really are in LA and he has gotten a lot of parts. They also have been doing this for 6 years. It's not easy, it takes time. You never know who you will meet that might help you get your foot in the door. I don't know where all her son's opportunities originated, but she works hard and follows up on everything to give her son all the possibilities she can. They introduced us to our agent and we are very thankful! We have never heard of Aquarian Associates, and can't offer any insight into their practices, but I can tell you that Charlotte is a great mom and friend and a real life person living in North Carolina (LA for now:)and we listen very closely to any advice she gives us!

Okay......so you are trying to convince me that you know this woman "Charolette" and her son "Tyler"? However, you proceed to say that you have never heard of Aquarian Associates and do not know where his opportunities have originated! If your sons "are like brothers", then why do you NOT know where all of his work is coming from? And what exactly is your point? If you scroll down through the different posts, you will see that the only positive feedback regarding Aquarian Associates and The Great American Model/Talent Search is from a woman named "Charolette" and "Joann". Both posts are supposed to be from different people however, they are both written in all caps, and posted on the same date within the same time frame. Did I also mention that "Charolette's" child's name is "Tyler", and "Joann's" child's name is "Tayler"? Coincidence, or is someone attempting to do damage control? Also, in these posts, there are gramatical errors, such as "Pittsburg". IT IS SPELLED WITH AN H!!!!!! Do I believe that these posts are written by different people? Are you kidding! Of course they are not. But it is a nice attempt on their part! Maybe next time, they could post on different days, or maybe some in caps and some in lower case. That way it won't look so obvious to people like me who know a rat when I smell one!

I do not know where all his opportunities originated because they started acting and modeling 6 years ago and we've only know them for a year. If you read Charlotte's post, you'll see that Tyler found new AGENTS that were interested at the showcases. I know which agencies he is with because my son is with two of the same agencies. She told me his first showcase was in Pitt, but our talk mainly focuses on the here and now and how we can help our children fulfill their dreams. She has been to so many things over the past six years, we probably would never have enough time to talk about all of them.

Well, you do insist that "Charolette" and "Tyler" are real people with real succuss stories. Fine. They are your friends, blah, blah ,blah..... You still have not responded to the fact that "Charolette" and "Joann" have the exact same posts, written in the exact same way, at the same time, with the same errors, with children with similar names, praising the exact same company!!!! Come on now, give me some credit! If you really are friends with "Charolette", maybe she has a split personality! You should ask her about Joann Lynch. It appears that they have ALOT in common! Maybe THEY could be best friends! Maybe they are THE EXACT SAME PERSON! Maybe someone is just trying to save their own ass.

Maybe they are friends, maybe they met at one of the searches. Who cares how they spell Pittsburgh. My parents were born there and I still have to think about the spelling. These woman have two children that are obviously talented and it seems to me that being in the search was the tool they needed to launch their careers. I mean North Carolina and Kentucky are not full of opportunities.

I know Charolette & Tyler, Joann and Taylor and a lot about Aquarian Assoc! My daughter, Alexandrea, has worked with both Tyler and Taylor! Alex got her start through Aquarian Assoc. She was in her first Great American Model And Talent search 4 years ago and has been back twice. She met Tyler after the first search and has worked with him on several jobs. We met Joann and her son Taylor last year when Alex worked with both Taylor and Tyler on a job. Aquarian Assoc. is not a scam. Their purpose is to help you gain exposure which they do by holding the Great American Model And Talent Search. They do have many legit agents and scouts at their search and participates do get work from them! Unfortunately, not everyone will make it in the business and it seems as if a few of those that don't have a hard time accepting that fact. That does not mean that Aquarian Assoc is a scam. No one who attends the search is ever guarenteed work. All they guarentee is expose and my daughter got exactly that and has now done several commercials, print ads and even a movie all as a result of her exposure at The Great American Model and Talent Search. To those of you that don't believe me that is OK because Alex has had a lot of fun, done a lot, and is hopefully on her way to even bigger and better things. And it all started with the Great American Model and Talent Search.

I have never heard of anything so rude!! Open your eye's.
Tyler as a result of this not only was in the feature film juwannaman, but also the independent feature throw down,
a international seaworld commercial, a national phizer pharmacutical commercial, valvoline & banquet chicken tender commercials and the new mercedes commercial which is playing all over the country currently.why don't you go to charlotte & tylers E mail. They will talk to you directly.
If you had a child, & I am sure you don"t, (Too much time on your hands) How would you feel if everyone told your child he wasn't real. From a friend of Charlotte, your sick
& you need help.Leave the child out of your agenda.

Yes she is real and a great person. I have known her for 17 years even before Tyler was born. I do know that she has worked very hard for Tyler and she has done alot. They are great and Tyler is very talented. After reading some on these posts it just seems to me that something did not go the way that you wanted it to so you are countering back with negativity. I have been with Charlotte to some of her agencies and it has been an amazing expierence for me to see. I have a 2 year old daughter and she is helping me get Macayla into the business. We have met with one of the agents that Tyler has signed with from the search in Pittsburgh. As for the concerning with the spelling of the city in Pennsylvania, if you are not from there many people might spell them different ways. The town that we are from has many different spellings with people. some people who live here spell it different. And to be technical, the disgruntled employee has spelled Charlotte's name wrong. So I say... What is in a name. The point of the matter is, no matter if you know a person or not, if someone is willing to give out their email addy and talk about things that their child has done and not only talk about it, but describe things in detail, then they are real. I personally, have seen the work Tyler has done, on tv, his print work, and movie and video work. So please everyone, don't judge a book by looking at the the cover, open it and read, you might be suprised what you will like.

Nice try talent group or docherty are not legit agents
ask them if they subscribe to a breakdown service.
If there legit they would say yes. Obviously you are a novice and a coward afraid to identify yourself since you obviously are a past disgruntled employee or worse a competitor in this business. Most people do not believe what they see on a unregulated internet where no one can verify what you say, or what is true. Wake up.

First of all, Docherty and The Talent Group DO NOT charge a cent for representation, AND they actually have clients! I would say that's pretty damn legit! Ask them who their clients are, and they will tell you! Mostly all of the models used in this area (Pittsburgh) are supplied by these two agencies! They don't sell modeling conventions, or modeling classes or pictures, and they definetly DO NOT accept everyone! Completely different from Model Management-Aquarian Associates-Great American.....WHATEVER!!!!! That my friend is what a legit agency is. The ONLY money they make is the 20% they take from each model from each assignment. That's the way it is in New York, Miami, LA, everywhere that is LEGIT! Why don't you call around to the major companies in PGH, and ask them where they get their models from. Call Kaufmann's, call Izzuzau, Phillip Pelussi, E.B Pepper, call fashion designers, call photographers! Thay will almost always tell you DOCHERTY or TALENT GROUP. Never will they say Model management! Hell, Model Management won't even answer your questions about who they represent, or who their clients are! You are the one who needs to wake up! The most humorous thing about all of this, is that you think I am a disgruntled employee or a competitor. Let me tell you something, I left them. Not the other way around. When I did leave, I came into an entirely diffrent profession. I am currently in law. Take that however you would like. Maybe I'm a cop, FBI, or perhaps a PI. You never know. But I can assure you, I am no longer in this industry......at least not the way you think I am. So, if Sam sent you to check me out, tell him I said hello, and not to get too comfortable. I am just starting to enjoy myself......

legit agents in L.A. only take 10%, so big deal. And how do you get seen by them ? They don't come to you. You go to them. I wasn't talking about local work in you cow town of pittsburgh. Guess what a plane ticket costs. And accomadation costs are. And that still doesn't garantee anything. People who are trying to do this nationaly and have experienced this, know you are obviously misled or have an ax to grind or whatever. Obviously its not worth the time to explain.

My kid is interested in modeling and acting(as many teenagers are)I've been reading the message postings I see a lot of good ones and bad ones. I noticed that "former employee" has some personal issues with the company and with all due respect you have a severe revenge complex. Or are you just an "evil doer" who saw the light and is now a crusater for truth, justice and the american way? If that's the case I know a car salesman that I would like you to have a chat with maybe you can make him see the light, we'll talk about that later though. As someone who has been fired from jobs before I though "It would be nice to get back at them for what they did to me." The problem with that was the fact that I had better things to do with my time. Judging by the number of postings and the speedy way you reply to others you don't. I guess the "law" business is pretty slow, I hear the Justice League has an opening, Aqua Man was fired! I'm gonna check out his postings when I'm done with this. But wait, lemme guess it's not personal. Were all of the bad postings from you? It seems that you discredit the good postings due to spelling errorz(s), punctuation, CAPS LOCK, similar names of children, etc. COME ON Please. If I had a dollar for every time I foud a misspelling on the internet or in print I wouldn't be here researching things on the internet for my kid. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD there is a message from a tiffany and a message from a tammy. I can't personally vouch for them but they leave names. Charlotte even leaves an e-mail address. I truly believe that Charlotte has a son named Tyler and JoAnne has a son named Tayler and that they have had good experiences as have others. I also believe that others percive their experience as bad because they were not as lucky as the others. Besides some people are going to be pissed no matter what. I hope the teacher here doesn't give my letter an "F" for any spelling or grammar errors.
Thanks for Listening
Steve Patric

P.S. TO CHARLOTTE: which boy is Tyler in the Mercedes commercial? (I will not discredit you if you would still like to maintain your son's privacy, that is respectable.

Now let's take things one at a time. First of all, I am NOT a disgruntled employee of any kind. I have never been fired from anywhere (unless you count the jobs I've had as a teenager). As for the "ax I have to grind", there is no ax. How do you even know I am not aquaintances with good old Sammy and Marilyn Manfreddi? I worked there long enough to realize that what they were doing was unethical. I did not want to be a part of it. So I left. What it comes down to is that I do not want these people to continue ripping innocent people off! Bottom line. They have gotten away with it for soooooo long, and it is time to stop! Model Management, Aquarian Associates, Great American Modeling Search, IS A JOKE! I WORKED THERE! I SAW WHAT WENT ON! I WAS A SCAMMER TOO! When you call them, they can't even answer questions about who their clients are! They tell you they can't answer any questions, you have to be seen by a "scout". Believe me, I know the drill. I am sure the people who posted all of this B.S. are employees of Sam. I would garantee it. Who else would it be? They all have similarities. And YOU say who cares? I say, because it is the same person trying to do damage control! Everyone else knows (or is finding out) what kind of companies these really are. That makes my job alot easier. People are not as dumb as you think they are. My posts really don't mean much. Everyone will find out on their own. However, kudos to Sammy and Marilyn for trying to save themselves......

WELL ANY WAY WHO EVER YOU ARE. YOU SAY THAT YOU CAN GUARANTEE THAT I OR MY SON IS NOT REAL. I LEFT MY EMAIL, I LIVE IN NC, YOU CAN GO AND PUT TYLER LEE DAVIS HIS FULL NAME IN THE GOOGLE SEARCH AND YOU WILL SEE THAT HE IS REAL!!!!! SO WE ARE NOT AQUARIAN EMPLOYEES, WE ARE NOT AQUARIAN'S CLIENTS, BY GOING TO THE SEARCH TYLER RECEIVED EXPOSURE FROM THE AGENTS AND SCOUTS THAT CAME TO THE SEARCH AND THAT WAS ALL THAT HE PROMISED ME... EXPOSURE! IT WAS GREAT, MAYBE BY CHANCE THAT HE IS ONE IN A 1000, THAT MAKE IT FROM THE SEARCH AS DONNA SAID IN ANOTHER POST NOT EVERYONE WILL MAKE IT, BUT THE AGENTS AND SCOUTS THAT CAME TO THE SEARCH WERE GREAT AND WE ARE EXTREMELY HAPPY. SO YOU SAY THAT YOU CAN GUARANTEE THAT WE ARE FAKE, I TAKE IT PERSONALLY WHEN IT COMES TO MY SON, SO PUT YOUR MONEY WHERE YOUR MOUTH IS LEAVE YOUR EMAIL, I WILL CONTACT YOU IN PERSON. PUT UP OR SHUT UP! DO NOT BE AFRAID OF SAYING WHO YOU ARE.

You say you were an employee but you do not have an ax to grind!! Well if you were actually an employee you should at least know how to correctly spell Sam's last name!!! But then maybe that was why you were fired because you were such a poor employee that you couldn't even get things right. Now you want to try to get back at them for firing you. Instead of wasting all your time posting all this erroreous stuff on the BB, you should go back to school and learn how to be a good employee!

Good guess, but no, I was not fired. I actually left there on good terms! This is NOT personal! I simply want to educate the public about scams in the industry. Coincidentally, Sam runs the biggest one around! For some strange reason, everyone there at the office seems to be getting a little fired up! Did I strike a chord? A reputable agency would ignore postings on a message board and relize that their good reputation (and track record) would keep them out of trouble. Sam, however, can't afford to have the truth come out, and as a result, is getting a bit nervous. Why do you think I was fired? Do you fire EVERYONE? As for me not spelling his name correctly, whatever! Manfreddi, Manfredi....same thing! He is still a CON ARTIST! PERIOD! As for me going back to school....well....if you know what I did for a living, you would know why that is not possible. I have more education than your entire staff put together! Like I said, this is not personal. However, for someone that has something to hide....well...I suppose that it is.

No, I do not intend on "ridding the world of evil". Fine, you are real, and so is your son, whatever! It just looks a little shady that when you post, there are other postings written in the same format, in the same time frame, with the same errors, and they all say basically the same thing! It sounds to me like they are from the same author. I am not the only one that thinks so. Read the other postings. IT LOOKS SUSPICIOUS! Sure, I have errors in my postings too, but I am not claiming to be different people EVERY TIME I post! It is also fishy that out of all of the people that attend the GAMTS, YOU and your son are the only ones with anything possitive to say! PEOPLE ARE NOT DUMB!!!!! So, go ahead with your insults (you are obviously the one who needs medication). I am sure after I post today, Sam or whoever else from the office will post again trying to do DAMAGE CONTROL!!!!! Good luck, you will need it. Give my best to your son.....his mother is a lunatic with too much time on her hands!

THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS TOO MUCH TIME ON THEIR HANDS IS YOU. I POSTED IN THE RESPONSE TO DEFEND MY SON AND HOW HIS CAREER WAS STARTED. THERE ARE OTHER PEOPLE THAT POST OTHER THAN MYSELF THAT HAS HAD SUCESS. SAME TIME FRAMES, WELL PEOPLE LIVE ALL OVER AND THEY COULD DO IT AS I DO. YES I POSTED ME A REAL LADY, WITH REAL SUCESS AND TYLER WILL CONTINUE, NO HE DOES NOT HAVE A LUNATIC MOM BUT A MOM WHO CARES DEEPLY AND BELIEVES WHOLE HEARTEDLY IN HER SON AND HIS DREAMS, ONE WHO NEVER GAVE UP AND I NEVER WILL. TYLER DID THE GAMTS 6 YEARS IN A ROW AND WE WILL BE BACK IN JUNE AT THE NEXT ONE. REMEMBER THAT THEY DO PROMISE YOU EXPOSURE AND IN THIS BUSY BUSINESS THAT IS WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SEEN BY SOMEONE WHO CAN GET THE BALL ROLLING IF THEY BELIEVE IN THE TALENT THAT YOUR KIDS HAVE. I AM SORRY FOR WHAT EVER HAPPEN THAT MADE YOU WANT TO SLANDER THIS COMPANY, BUT AQUARIAN DESERVES SOME PROPS!!!!! AND TO THEM TYLER AND MYSELF GIVE IT. I THINK THAT YOU SHOULD JUST STOP AND LET PEOPLE DO WHAT THEY FEEL IS BEST FOR THEIR CHILDREN. OBVISOUSLY, THERE COMPANY AND THEIR BUSINESS HAS HAD SUCCESS OR IT WOULDN'T HAVE REMAINED IN BUSINESS FOR SO LONG. SO TO YOU AND YOUR "CRYSTAL BALL" I HOPE THAT YOU GET IT FIXED. NOTICE I CHECK THIS BOARD EARLY IN THE MORNING OR LATE AT NIGHT. YOU CHECK IT ALL DAY SO THE TIME YOU HAVE INVESTED WAS AND IS A WASTE OF TIME.

Instead of wasting all your time posting all this erroreous stuff on the BB, you should go back to school and learn how to be a good employee!

what about the kickback doucherty & talent group recieve
from photographers that charge exorbantent fees because these so called agents only earn when the people work.
with all due respect, wich isn't really due. there isn't that much work in pittsburg. Oops no H . I guess that means we don't exist. I forgot this is a message board for one individual I guess. I know those photographers so if you are looking for legit agents get on the phone to people outside of local miniscule pittsburgh & talk to people in major markets, If you really want to work.

Like I have said in my previous posts, I am not talent looking for work, I am a former employee of scam artists. When I spoke about Docherty and the Talent Group, I was not just refering to JUST the Pittsburgh area. Go ahead, give them a call. Many of their talent is in New York City, Chicago, Miami, etc., and THEY ARE WORKING!!!! However, there is also alot of local work here in Pittsburgh! Any "agency" that charges a fee, or requires you to purchases classes, pictures, model searches, or anything else IS A SCAM! Bottom line! No reputable agency has an "in house" photographer that you must use. Ask Model Management if you can use your own professional photograpghs! They will tell you NO! Regardless if they were taken by a photographer reccomended by the Ford Agency! They want your money! All $400.00 of it! Give me a break! Anyone who has done their homework knows that! As for this message board being all about me, that is humorous. I want to educate people about scam artists in the industry. Model Management aka Great American Modeling Search, aka Aquarian Associates is one of them! I am not the only one who has posted things like this either. Look around. Just about every post is about this company and people's bad experiences with them, so don't blame me! The only positive ones are from Sam and his staff-it doesn't take a rocket scientist! For a while there, everyone remained fairly silent. Then all of a sudden, all these people start posting, coming after ME! Coincidence? I don't think so! I think Sam and Marilyn are getting a little nervous-they should. As for me being a "coward" for not posting my name, I suppose I could. I could post ANY name, just like everyone else could! So if you want a name, call me Jamie. How's that?

THE AQUARIAN ASSOCIATES DID NOT CALL THEMSELVES AGENTS, THEY SAY THEY ARE NOT, IN ALL THEIR PAPERWORK, IN THE MEETINGS AND SO ON SO IF THEY WERE SAYING THAT THEY WERE AGENTS, THEN IT WOULD BE A SCAM, THEY GIVE YOU EXPOSURE AND THAT RIGHT THERE IS THE SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT THING THAT YOU CAN GIVE OR GET FOR YOUR CHILD. YOU STILL HAVEN'T RESPONDED TO THE FACT THAT YOU DAY I AND MY SON TYLER ARE NOT REAL, HIS OTHER NEW COMMERCIAL, FOR ORLANDO TOURISM AND SEA WORLD VACATIONS STARTED RUNNING YESTERDAY, I SAY THAT IS PRETTY GOOD FOR A FAKE PERSON.

I just went to one of their searches and it was awesome. Not only did my daughter get work from an agent on the spot but also we interviewed with three other agents and we are in the process of signing with them. It was the best exposure that my child could of gotten in the least amount of time. Three thumbs up for the well organized event, the staff, the agents, scouts, modeling agents, photographers and all the other people that were there to see my child. I am so grateful. They opened the door and helped me to get my daughter's whole body in, not just a foot. Cheers to All!!

I first would like to address that I do not understand where someone can get off calling someone fake. I know Charlotte and Tyler personally and I know for a fact that they both are real and that Tylers accomplishments are real. Its just tacky that some people are jealous of the fact that they can not go anywhere and want to put people down. They ARE real and they shouldnt be put down for being talented. Tyler has REAL talent that isnt bought, it was gave to him by God and he knows how to show it. He has done wonderful because the person that he is. So maybe now you can get on with your life and find something better to do then put down people that you obviously do not know. Find something else to talk about and leave the real talent alone. Thanks alot.

Simple logic tells you that when they don't take a picture of your child at the initial meeting then there is no legitimacy to the process.

They just want you to come back so they can fill your head with ideas on how successful your kid will with only their help and about $700-800.

My wife went today to the initial consultation and I plan on going to the call back so I cn argue every point they make.

The Lyric Opera of Kansas City needs male actors for their upcoming production of Aida. No singing required, and no audition. The rehearsals begin late August, and the performance dates are Sept. 15, 17, 19, 21, and 23. There are several parts available.

Do you see yourself in this list?
Tea Bearers (2) – 12-14 yr old boys. African-American. Done after Intermission.
Body Guards (4) – Ethnic appearance- Hispanic / Indian / African American. In the 5’9” to 6’1” range. Used the entire show and will have the most rehearsal time.
Eunuchs (2) – Large men, comfortable in a loin cloth or limited clothing
POW’s /Slaves (8) – Good-looking men
Canopy Holders (4) – Men, stage experience preferred, will be doing a lot of staging directly with the leads
Amneris lovers (2) – The really, really, ridiculously good-looking men

This is a great opportunity to experience a professional production and appear onstage with world class performers.

You can sign up at: <a rel=nofollow target=_blank href="http://lyricoperasupers.googlepages.com/home">http://lyricoperasupers.googlepages.com/home</a>
Please check the rehearsal schedule link to confirm that you can attend all rehearsals.

I'm not quite sure what to think about NDN after reading the few responses about it. It seems a bit shady and not worth the trouble or money. My son was "selected" to go to the myrtle beach convention this year in November. When I went to the meeting and they told us we had to come back the very next day and pay $595 in registration fees I was a little skeptical and unprepared to pay these fees. So I have e-mailed the company and they have returned a call to me. They told me that it was still possible for me to sign him up for the conference even though it was over three weeks ago. That I could send the money directly to the company, and they would mail a contract. I don't know if this is legit or not. Anyone with info please reply

I attended the meeting with my son where Sam gave info on the main event, upon some research, I cam across a posted comment that was supposedly made by one of the mothers of the selected individuals. The childs name was mispelled and i checked this on the actual website. this "parent" of the child claimed that this event was totally legit but I'm now very skeptical since either the parent or either the agency don't remember how to spell this child real name.

I just attended an informational meeting for Great American Model and Talent Search conducted by Sam. This is the second one we received a postcard for. We attended the convention in 2004 and did not get any callbacks and after that we just dismissed it. We are thinking about attending this one in July in PA. We have until 8:00pm tonight to decide. After reading most of the postings I am scared to death now to pay the entry fee and attend. I was surprised by what seemed to be 1000's of people there in 2004. They do say they only guarantee exposure and nothing else but at $629. Why do they need the money so quickly--literally one day? I'm so confused now I have no idea what to do. ugh It costs $629 for the entry fee, plus airfair, hotel $95 per night, then there is another fee to get in and out of the conference room. I know that nothing happens without money to cover expenses but this seems unbelievably high.

This is truely a small price to pay for the opportunity for your child to be seen by so many people in the business. Do you have any idea what it cost to fly to Los Angeles get a hotel for a couple of weeks and try to get a meeting with just one talent agency? I have been there, and in my opinion the search is a very reasonably alternitive.

I am sad to admit that I am a recent victim of the Great American Model and Talent Search. Unfortunately, I researched the company AFTER I had made an initial $225 deposit for the search in Pennsylvania scheduled for July 21, 2007. I have a friend whom I warned but she is going to go through with the company anyway. They want a total of $700 for the entire search. Please give me some suggestions on what I can do to make these people pay for scamming us and taking our hard earned money!!!!!

What were you a victim of and how can you say that you were scammed? By not letting your child participate in the search you have no idea what the outcome may have been. The acting business is and has always been unsure and there are no guarantees. New faces come and go. But how can you be given an opportunity to have your child seen, not take this opportunity, and then claim that you were scammed?

Subject: Just Do a Little Research, and Use a Little Common Sense

Author:
David
[Edit]

Date Posted: 09:24:07 05/10/05 Tue

I have been watching this board for a little while, because I have been starting to look around for agencies and modeling/acting opportunities for my young daughter. And, as much as I want to stay silent, I just have to speak up at this point.

All it takes, folks, is a little research, a little objectivity, and a little common sense. We all know that our own children are the most beautiful and the most talented in the world. That is a healthy feeling, because it shows we're supportive of our own children. And I happen to think that ALL children are beautiful and precious, and that they're all stars in their own unique way.

But step back for a minute and ask yourself, if my child really has the look and the talent, and can make a lot of money (thereby making the agent rich), why do I have to shell out mega-bucks in advance?

Reputable agencies will NEVER ask for money up front. They may recommend photographers and classes, but will NEVER offer them, or make you pay the agency for them. You will ALWAYS pay the photographer, school, etc., completely separately from the agency. If you are EVER asked to give the agency ANY MONEY AT ALL, run. As fast as you can. Reputable agencies only get their money when you get paid.

Now, there's nothing intrinsically WRONG with these "model management" companies that offer classes and photography, but you have to be able to evaluate them on their own merits. Do they have strong classes taught by professional WORKING teachers? Do they have great photographers? Never mix an agency and these services, otherwise you're stuck with perhaps a good agent but a bad photographer.

But, all too typically, when you usually evaluate them on their merits, they're either bad agents, bad instructors, bad photographers, or all of the above.

That's not to say that these companies don't serve a purpose. You can get some good practical advice on personal care, hair styling, etiquette, etc. But most professionals say you either have it or you don't. Training may help, but it doesn't make a model where there was none to begin with.

The best route to take, and the one to make sure you're getting the best value for your money, is to shop around for agents separately from photographers and classes.

If you're looking for your child, take good quality snapshots yourself, focusing on the traditional headshot and a 3/4 or full length shot. Print them out at a photo lab, or 8.5x11 color copies on glossy card stock at CopyMax, Kinko's, etc., for $1 a page. You can really do your own headshots and comp cards up that way.

Send these to agents and schedule interviews. Then, get advice from your agent before you get photographs. They are on your side, and will try to cultivate your child's image. After all, if you succeed, you make them money. Usually, professional photos for children before signing with an agent are a waste. Besides, children change so much, and an agent will want to see them as they are, not as when they had a photo shoot a year ago.

Separately, get your child as involved as you possibly can, but follow their lead as far as where their interest lies. Maybe they're into modeling, maybe acting, maybe singing, maybe NONE of it. You can't make them into something they're not, but you can provide opportunities for them to grow and experience new things. Get them involved in church plays, school choir, etc. Look for opportunities for print ads, like a local store. Offer up your child's services for free, for the experience. Register with a local children's clothing store or the children's department of a chain store for any future fashion shows they may have. It will give your child runway experience. Dance classes are a huge benefit, and give your child practical stage performance experience. Local children's theater troupes often offer classes and summer camps, which will broaden your child's experiences, and you can put those on her resume. All of these will make her more well-rounded and give her valuable experience that will appeal to an agent and give her an idea where her passions lie.

The biggest things though, mom and dad, is to get educated and informed yourself.

Check out a few web sites, starting with www.easybackgroundcheck.com. Check out some local agency web sites, to see what kinds of kids they are booking.

Check out the tons of books on the subject. The best one I've ever read was Raising a Star by Nancy Carson, but there are several excellent ones, such as Wilhelmina's World of Child Modeling by Natasha Esch and Acting Up! by Lucia Forte.

And the biggest thing, have fun with this, and with your child. Don't put all this pressure on your child to succeed. Be willing to admit that your child might not be cut out for the business. Your child will be excellent at something, we just don't know what it is yet. Your job as parent is to help her discover and cultivate it. Because, whatever it is that she ends up doing, she will always be your child...

I have been looking into stuff like this for my daughter. She's such a little ham and I thought she would like to act and model. I checked EZBC, and it seemed a little weird to me. I checked this site "Bureau of ethical internet commerce" http://www.beiconline.com/ezbc_ripoff_criminals.htm to see what they had. If you dig you can find some interesting stuff. I'm not too sure I'd trust EZBC, Easybackgroundcheck or modelingscams.com Judging by the websites they look like they are the same person or persons copying and pasting the same stuff to different web addresses

I took my children to one of these casting calls in countryside, Il. My one child was found to be "marketable." There will be an informational session in 1 week for the parents to attend. I am contemplating on going. I went to an open casting call last year for a different scouting service and my child was deemed "marketable." by this other company too. I did sign with this company, but my child has not had any jobs as of yet. I have looked into both companies and both are members of the BBB. Do these companies appear to be scams?

this is for no name i have just returned from the 2007 modeling ans talent search which we have attended for 2 years now when you first go to the local hotel in your home town they give you a run through of what would happen you know the success stories etc. they even go out of ther way to bring in a "real" kid or there parent to explain what happened to there kid and where there kid is now. if you decide to go through that day they will gladly take a whopping $500.00 and more to even get you in the show then when you travel to Pittsburgh they then make you pay for an event pass which this year was $73.00 but last was $65.00 which is fine but then you have to consider your hotel stay and food gas if you drive rental car so on and so on then the day of the search depending on how old your child (children) is what group there in division 1,2 etc ours this year was at 8:30am early so they call your # in groups to walk across stage infront of the scouts 20+ people good exposure sure but the scouts already know what there looking for and i will say from my behalf i have a set of twin girls half white half asian beautiful of course i would say that but really they have an exotic look about them and well behaved i might add and they didn't get pick 2006 or 2007 very disappointed but each to there own but i don't belive i will be attending next years search i will do the leg work myself but good luck to all of those who choose to do this

Has anyone ever heard of Millie Lewis International? Everything I have heard so far has been great! I just want to be sure before we spend money to go to a convention. I have seen good things about them, but I would like to know if they are for real. Please if you have any info good or bad let me know. Thank you!!

Be careful - they send their sales staff into cities - place big radio adds - ask for a nonrefundable $500.00 deposit and could care less if you attend the convention because they made their money - if you go it will cost over $5000.00 and there are over 1500 contestants you are just one among many.
Their telephone script was posted on the net showing how they take everyone - they tell everyone they have been "chosen" by the way the sales person gets $250.00 of your deposit - that is why everyone is chosen.

I was one of the "lucky" ones to be "chosen" by the scout that was sent to Rochester, NY. They almost suckered me in, but I was smart enough to ask them questions. I asked them how many of their "chosen" people had gotten a contract out of the convention and the average number of call backs they received, but they just didn't have the answers. They couldn't even tell me what I had gotten "chosen" for! I only knew that it was in the modeling category. If you have money to burn, burn it on something else.

I have taken two of my daughters to this convention. My oldest daughter went twice. They both had excellent experiences. It is well run and very professional. I am not sure what you are wanting to get out of it. Obviously if you live in the Midwest you are not going to get lots of work in NY or LA from here. But, you will get to meet agents that will educate you on the business and that will help you decide if this is for you. I cannot say enough nice things about Carey and Bill Arban that run AMTC. They really do run a class act. Hope that helps.

They are in this to make money. I know them both, and I knew her mother. They do not care if anyone makes it from their convention, they simply want money. For the money you paid to go, it should be a class act.

I HOPE THAT EVERYONE THINKING ABOUT GOING WITH ANY MILLIE LEWIS CONVENTION OR SCHOOL, THINKS AGAIN.
I ACTUALLY WAS A SCOUT FOR THIS COMPANY.CAREY ARBAN,THE OWNER(MILLIES DAUGHTER)TOLD ME HERSELF THAT EVERYONE IS SELECTED AND IF SHE FOUND OUT THAT WE DID NOT TRY TO SIGN SOMEONE,FOR ANY REASON,WE WOULD BE FIRED. ALSO FOR EVERY PERSON SIGNED THE "SCOUT GETS 250.00. ON ONE SCOUTING TRIP THAT TOOK ONLY 2 DAYS (ONLY 2 HOURS FOR OPEN CALL) (AND ABOUT FIVE OR SIX HOURS OF INTERVIEWS THE NEXT DAY,TO SIGN EVERYONE UP)I ACTUALLY SIGNED ABOUT 30 PEOPLE.THATS 250.00 TIMES 30!! THATS 7500.00 FOR ABOUT 8 HOURS WORK. MOST PEOPLE WONT TURN DOWN THAT KIND OF MONEY.THANKFULLY MY PARENTS RAISED A SON WITH A CONSCIENCE AND I RESIGNED.I WILL ADMIT THAT IT WAS VERY HARD GIVING UP THAT INCOME (I MADE OVER 300,000 IN ONE YEAR!!!!I AM NOT MAKING THAT KIND OF MONEY ANYMORE,BUT I SLEEP REALLY WELL AT NIGHT...FINALLY

To the so-called former (male) scout of AMTC: Your income story is fantastically false. You are engaging in illegal Web stalking of the AMTC, as a disgruntled rejectee can. You were observed in inappropriate actions, dishonesty, and suspicion of theft. You did not resign; you were dismissed. Indeed, you were paid fairly, anyway, so you seem to be renegeing on your written word as well. Your mother would not be proud of your behaviour. Give it up, and save your soul, HB.

It's VERY expensive to attend their AMTC (Actor, Model, Talent Competition). But, I've heard if you live in a small market (i.e. anywhere but NY, Miami, LA . . .), it may be beneficial. It's an opportunity to be seen by top casting agents that you don't have if you don't live near the "BIG" markets. BUT, you are not guarenteed even 1 callback, so your thousands of dollars may be wasted. Also, Millie Lewis is a modeling SCHOOL, not an agency. Good Luck, whatever you choose!

My son is a toddler model and has been since he was exactly 1 year old. We have RECEIVED money for assignments more than 10 times, but I have NEVER paid a penny for anything. ALL reputable, true agencies will NOT ask you for a dime. There are so many self-claimed agencies who will "help" you and it is not illegal for them to do so and it is also totally legal for them to accept money. Please just know that the big, reputable agencies will never take a dime from you. RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH and once they want money, run because it is NOT how it works!!

If anyone has had experience with National Discovery Network, Inc. out of Greensburg, PA, I'd like to hear from you. It's a scouting company and they are interested in my 2-year-old daughter. They want her to participate in a model search convention in Panama City, FL in late May 2003. NDN has a satisfactory rating with the Better Business Bureau, but I'd still like to get some opinions before I sign her up for the convention. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Carla.

my daughter has also been chosen for the convention. I have already paid the $395 and then was contacted by them to use there photographer for the slides they need. I have my own photographer who said the 35mm slides they ask for seems outdated, and somewhat fishy. He went ahead and did her photoshoot with the 35mm (instead of digital) and warned that requesting the 35mm may of been there way of forcing you to use there photographer at an additional $195.00 charge. We will also have to pay an additional $50 per person. After paying for hotel, and accomidations this weekend convention will run over $1000.00 with no guarantees and no insurance as to who will be viewing the children. I wish I wasn't so financially commited to this scam or I would have back out $500.00 sooner. Good Luck at the show just maybe 1 out of the hundreds there will be noticed.

Thanks I'm suppose to meet with them on 6/6/06 here in Myrtle Beach. They just had a search about a month ago. The meeting was free and they only wanted to look at the kids eyes, becasue the "Market" area they were searching requested this. And with their years of performing searches for the "Indusrty". They were experts at fulfilling the needs of the "Market" based on what it was demanding.
I think the only thing their experts at is seeing what parent or in my case grand parent, loves ther child enough to spend money or has the money to spend on, their child.

The meeting date was enough for me to stayout this round.

I attended a talent search in Orlando with my Daughter a couple of years ago. I forget the name of the convention, but they all sound the same.

We had a great time and met a lot of great people. She did her runway walk and a short commercial.

After meeting with the call backs, we learned that unless my daughter would grow to over 5'11", she would never be a runway model and unless we were willing to move to New York or LA, it was really a waste of our time to sign with these agencies to get her print work, some commercials and/or auditions for TV or movies.

Since we are not dedicated enough to my daughters potential "fame", we did not sign with any agencies.

Regardless, we did have a good time and learned what it would take to really help her be successful in this industry. Of course, I might have also learned this by searching the internet, but it probably would not have been as much fun.

I appreciate all the people who have given feedback regarding National Discovery Network. We went to their open call event here in Panama City Beach and my daughter was chosen for a call back. I don't think I'll even bother with the call back now that I see they only want money. THANKS FOR SHARING YOUR INFO!!
