YES - there are sources of such information. I'd recommend you learn scale modes in general, and the ways that Jerry used them will reveal themselves once you do.

Depending upon your background, some might be easier to learn from than others.

Here's my very abbreivated version which has nothing to do with frets nor with guitars, but with scale intervals. Think of a simple major scale as being a series of seven intervals, two whole steps, one half step, three whole steps, one half step. This is the "Ionian" mode of the scale, although people usually just call it a major scale. Picture it like this:

Ionian: W-W-h-W-W-W-h

To derive the patters of the various modes of the major scale, just rotate that pattern to the left, so-to-speak.

Ionian: W-W-h-W-W-W-h
Dorian: W-h-W-W-W-h-W
Phrygian: h-W-W-W-h-W-W
Lydian: W-W-W-h-W-W-h
Mixolydian: W-W-h-W-W-h-W
Aeolian: W-h-W-W-h-W-W (a.k.a. relative minor)
Locrian: h-W-W-h-W-W-W

Jerry used a lot of mixolydian, and the other modes to a lesser extent.

For a more fret-based approach, check out this web site:

There's also a book out there with a title like "Fret Logic" or something like that.

Hope that helps
