NBC pays Corday Productions and Columbia TriStar a fee for the rights to air DAYS. Because DAYS was a solid # 2 and there was the threat to walk to ABC, Corday was able to secure a nice contract with NBC. This time around, with declining ratings it seems likely NBC isn't willing to agree to those same contract terms. Corday and Columbia TriStar will likely have to settle for less money if they want to stay at NBC.

It has more to do with the money Corday and Columbia
gets, but it might also affect the show in terms of cuts.

The ABC network is in serious trouble! They are not in
the same position they were in a few years ago. And if
the Sept 02 season is a disaster, it will get even worse!

Of course. When I said NBC didn't want to cancel DAYS I was speaking directly to the issue of wanting a new Reilly
soap in favor of DAYS. NBC Daytime has done some stupid things, but to drop DAYS for a Reilly soap? No way! NBC will be working hard in contract negoiciations with Corday/Columbia, they don't want to lose DAYS, but they won't give away the bank to keep DAYS either.

CBS concept is interesting, but they have never picked up another networks canceled soaps! LOL ABC grabbed CBS EDGE and NBC grabbed CBS SEARCH. So history says forget about a move to CBS. But I do believe CBS execs would consider it and maybe even make an offer to Corday, especially if GL continues sliding. Also keep in mind DAYS has to remain strong in the ratings, if it crashes, watch for a final episode, nevermind a network move!
A more suitable network for DAYS would be FOX.
What better way to launch a daytime line-up than
with a long-running exisiting show, and why the
hell not? throw in Santa Barbara reruns as well,
afterall FOX does own the rights to SB! :)
DAYS 1pm SB 2pm I like that! LOL

Sad but true.
