It might just be a plot to scare Corday. NBC floats stories of a DAYS replacement, so Corday will be more likely to settle for less money.

Less money? How? You said they're paying Deidre Hall mucho grando to stick with the show and the show has a LOT of actors on their canvas. If a show has to cut from it's budget, what would that mean? Firing actors? Terrible lighting and production values?(Is it just me or am I the only one that noticed how "dim" the Kiriakis mansion was during NBC/Days's contract dispute)

I don't think ABC can afford to keep OLTL and still obtain the rights to air DAYS.

Are we forgetting that Port Charles tapes half of their episdoes in advanced? If One Life to Live keeps Erika Slezak and cuts some of their lame cast or reduces them to recurring status, that would be great. Plus, I hear Gary Tomlin is doing certain things to save money on the production anyway(short taping schedules). I think it would be very plausible for ABC to shorn One Life to a half hour and air Days.

And I just remembered PC's option for renewal is up this fall(and if PC is canned, the show will air throughout March, much like ABC's The City). Similar to NBC's first contract cycle with Days being up in March, 2003. Hmmmph. I know I'm just purely speculating the worse, but this is too coincidental.

I'm certain they don't want to cancel.

Like you've previously stated in earlier posts, networks are all about the money, honey. If NBC feels like they aren't making any money off the show, they'll kill it. Even though Another World was looking up for the network, they KILLED it because it was too expensive to keep it on the network. Even IF NBC were smart enough to THINK about cancelling Sunset Beach first and deciding to shift the airing of Another World to Sunset Beach's 11AMEST and 3PM time slots like it was in most of the country, they wouldn't have went through with it, simply because it's too expensive to keep the show on the air. If I were a Days fan, I'd hold my proverbial breath until the first part of the contract cycle is up.
------

And here's an idea......What if CBS decides to finally grab some leftovers? If NBC kills Days, wouldn't it be wise of CBS to replace Days with Guiding Light on their schedule? Guiding Light is averaging a 2.6-2.9 these days, compared to Days of our Lives's 3.4-3.8 averages. Not to mention Days of our Lives is clearly the winner in the key 18-49 demos. And doesn't Guiding Light air after-school on the East Coast anyway? Kiddies come home from the bus ride and catch that second half of Days of our Lives.

Or perhaps Bold and the Beautiful could be a lead-in for Days of our Lives's airing at 2EST, therefore, shifting As the World Turns to Guiding Light's former spot?

Hmmmm.....Maybe I'm playing the "cancellation game" too early or too much. But one thing is for certain....backstage drama is a hellofalot more fun to speculate than the shows.
