Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears Join MathMastery
Music stars speak out on the importance of math and its uses in music

Boston, Massachusetts, May 29, 2001�Justin Timberlake of NSYNC and Britney Spears have joined with MathMastery to form the MathMastery.com MathNMusic Club, announced Harry Hagerty, president & CEO of MathMastery, an Internet-based mathematics support program.

"We�re excited about our partnership with Justin and Britney," Hagerty said. "As career professionals and role models for today�s youth, they bring their commitment to excellence to MathMastery. We�re pleased that they are willing to spread positive messages about mathematics to their fans and the public-at-large."

The MathNMusic Club presents mathematical concepts, such as fractions and decimals, in a creative, real world scenario�all taking shape in music. The MathNMusic Club offers math activities that students can access by going to www.mathmastery.com, and clicking on the MathNMusic Club icon. The MathNMusic Club will debut June 5, 2001.

Students who join MathMastery�s MathNMusic Club will receive a free certificate of enrollment featuring pictures of Justin and Britney. Additionally, students who complete the various math courses will receive a series of posters featuring Justin and Britney. A portion of the proceeds generated from the MathNMusic Club subscriptions will benefit the Britney Spears Foundation and the Justin Timberlake Foundation, members of The Giving Back Fund�s family of foundations.

"Justin and Britney believe in the power of a good education and they have been very active in efforts to encourage students to continue their education," said Marc Pollick, president & CEO of The Giving Back Fund. "Their partnership with MathMastery demonstrates their dedication to keeping students in school and will help to fund other charitable programs that encourage life-long learning."

The MathNMusic Club is one of the many ways that MathMastery illustrates the importance of mathematics, and its uses, to students in grades four through eight. Through rigorous math content, support materials and fun family activities, MathMastery strives to increase student achievement in math. MathMastery is founded on the award winning Core Concepts in Science and Mathematics� math programs, recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as an "exemplary" educational program.
