Thomas Appleby my 2nd great grandfather born Abt 1816 Barnard Castle, Durham, England was a serving soldier/clerk in Carrickfergus, Antrim, Ireland, when he committed the crime that landed him in New South Wales, Lanyon area, Queanbeyan (now Canberra, ACT). His Native Place is given as Durham. However, years of searching has failed to give us any leads on Thomas his siblings (if any) and his parents Margaret Wright and Thomas Appleby. Does anyone know where we might find his entry papers into the Army? With this knowledge we hopefully may be able to trace his parents.
Did he have relatives in Ireland...no one seems to know.
Hope someone out their might be able to help us.
regards, Valma
