Yes Ralp used the corvair as one of his ploys to back the book and do the lawsuit.
The book was published which made his name.
The lawsuit was lkost because the examples used for the Corvair being unstable were accidents where the speed limit was about 40 or 45 and the driver waqs exceeding the limit by a considerable amount. So much so that it was ruled on expert testimony that ANY car driven the way the corvair was driven in that Of course it was so far past the book date that it made no difference that his example was faulty. the same type of rear suspension was used on the the VW ( swing axles ) and also had been used on the Porshe for a long time with drivers racing them and not loosing control until way past the speeds the non professional driver could loose control at.
But RAlph made his name with the lawsuit and the book and the rest is history.
Now of course if you falsify your resume you can loose your job and sometimes go to prison for practicing without a license and so forth but making your name politically and calling yourself an expert on things you know nothing about and getting the fact wrong is apparently not a crime and a good way to become a pundit or a politician these days.

Corvair Corsa Sport. 140 HP mid engined like the ferrarri and other sports cars, not a bad way to get into sports cars on the cheap.

Oh yeah the corvair went the way od the dodo but not because of the lawsuit and the publicity. GM had already decided to go with the CAmero to doirectly compete with the Mustang byt then and they phased it out by 69 and went racing in sedans instead.
I had a 65 two door coup that I never could get clear title to so sent to the graveyard ( which was where it had come rom but they lost the title then went out of business when rt 80 was run through their property ).
