I think it does make a difference to know whether not not you carry a marker gene from a health perspective. I agree with Marissa in that if you know you carry the gene, then you can start taking measures against the cancer before it has even developed. As Marissa so rightfully suggested, a person who has the gene can try and lessen the severity of the disease by leading a healthier life. I had not thought about it, but I agree with Marissa when she said that knowing that one does have the marker can have an affect on the mental health of the afflicted person. This is a great observation and I efinitely agree with what Marissa said. I also agree that just because someone has the gene, that does not mean they are "sick." If they had never gone to get tested, then they would not know if they had the gene at all. Carrying the gene does not mean tha physical symptoms are prevalent yet.
