Thanks. I sometimes have trouble figuring out exactly what another has in their mind.
I will change my position in an instant if I see-and believe-evidence that any particular theory is correct and accurate.
What I did was simply to explain what had happened here and show that the theory accepted my many (Ed included) simply wouldn't explain everything.
I have no "position" and am not trying to gather anyone to my point of view. I am not trying to tell others to "gather round the flag and let's believe something different". I have also never advised anyone to breed any dog. Breeding dogs is a time consuming pain in the butt. I'm addicted and can't help it, so I breed, but there are other hobbies that take less from you and can be just as satisfying (I guess).
Again, as far as the mange, my personal belief is that if a litter develops mange it was passed in some fashion through the dam and the pups will probably pass it if they are ever bred (although the research Angela has discovered says that the cause is a weak immune system that can be strengthened and repaired with proper feeding, and dogs so treated will not have mangy pups-that information presents another entirely new set of ideas to comtenplate). If a pup picks up Demdoex through contact and recovers and grows into an adult with no signs of mange can it now be bred without fear of passing mange on to its' pups??? That seems to be the question and I have no answer at the moment. Will I ever get an answer (one way or the other)? Don't know yet.
