Rex, I am glad to read your response. I agree with you about the plott dogs and I think the leopards should get the same chance as any other hound breed. People think of a cur dog as a small dog that is a stillhead with not much mouth and a cold nose. These leopard dogs do not fit into that category. They are more houndlike than the other curs and as we all know, there is a lot of hound in the ancestry. In my opinion there have been some things that have hurt the promotion of the leopard breed, one is the permanent registration process that has been required for years. Some people don't want to drive several hundred miles just to get a dog hunted to prove it will tree a coon just to get it permanent registered. I believe being able to hunt and bench show the leoaprds in UKC right along with the other six hound breeds will also promote these dogs. Right now, the leopards are few and far between. We need to give other hunters a reason to start hunting them. Being accepted by UKC as the seventh hound breed could be the boost we have needed for years. Dan N
