 I may get bashed for this, but this is my opinion on protests... they SUCK!!!
This is what I think should happen... Agree with Banks first, you protest a car, you tear down too.
AND... costs $250 for a RACER to tear another car down (both cars must tear down) if you're illegal, the protester gets his money back and the cheater gets to pay the track $250.
The track hires an "official, unbiased, non track related" tech man to check any car at any time for anything... if you are caught cheating, YOU pay the track $500 AND must be legal and go through inspection before you race again. The tech man decides who to tear down and when... the catch? HE gets paid for tearing down a car ONLY if it's illegal. If he tears down a car and it's legal, then the track pays the driver $250 for the tear down.
AND last but not least... change the tear prices at random...haha
Maybe this will slow down the "protest at will just because you have the cash to back you" crap AND will give the track the advantage to "make" a little money if they know someone is illegal.
What do you think there Banks? Good idea or just retarded?
