I forget having also seen the WQED/WQEX transmitter site back in 1970. Talk about a technology museum! WQED got started because Westinghouse had a pending application for Channel 11, and had bought the transmitter and other equipment for a hi-VHF band 7-13 transmitter. But when Dumont ended up selling WDTV to Westinghouse after it had moved from 3 to 2, Westinghouse didn't need the high band transmitter. Westinghouse sold/donated/transferred to high band transmitter to Metropolitan Pittsburgh Educational Television for use on channel 13.

The transmitter site was packed with old broadcasting gear from the early 1950's, all marked "WDTV" or "Dumont". Most of it was standby or spare gear, like an ancient telecine that could be used for "Please Stand By" messages if they lost the link from the studios.

If my memory serves me correctly, there were also some monitors and other gear with WENS stenciled on the sides, from when WQED managed to get channel 16.
