He snapped at me a minute ago when trying to touch him which is unusual since he never does anything at all. I have raised this baby flying squirrel since it was about 5 weeks old. I'm thinking it's a boy, but I'm not sure. I plan on getting them a playmate in the future.
I also noticed that my baby flying squirrel doesn't look like others. He never had a rat looking tail. His tail was really short like a nub and then it began to grow in time and get fur spreading out. My squirrel now looks like a minature adult.
When the squirrel goes to use the bathroom, it will climb on the sides of the cage and use it. That's why I'm thinking that it might be a boy.
If anyone could give me information on how boy and girl flying squirrels act, that'd be great. I live in southern Alabama.

My daughter found a flying squirrel as a baby and we have bottle fed him until he weined himself. He is approximately 4-5 months old. His left eye started turning grey in the center and now the grey part has turned a reddish orange and now the right eye is turning grey in the center. What is this? I took him to the vet today and they told me he is blind in one eye and going blind in the other. I don't believe he is because he follows my hands. Is this normal? The vet said this was something he was born with. Please help us. I am worried about him.

I have a one year old FS! He is the best! But as a full time worker I can only spend so much time with him. He's very good and is free to roam my house at any point he wishes. The only problem is I feel he's getting lonely. I sleep and he's up all alone. So I've decided to get another. But have had trouble find one the same age as him, as well as locally. So I have the option to get a new born. But I'm not 100% on how to go about iintroducing them. And I'm scared they won't get along. Would highly appreciate any advice!

I have a 6-7 week old flying squirrel.It's drinking store bought kitten milk, slightly watered down, and a drop or two of liquid hummingbird food for elecrolytes.
However, after two days I haven't seen any sign of defication. It wee-wee's, but hasn't poo'd. Does anyone know what to do for possible constipation, or could this be normal. It cleans itself in that area, but I haven't seen any signs of voiding. Help!???? Also, I have tried to stimulate it's bottom with warm water on a soft q-tip after each feeding, but nothing!

We have a decorative bird house in our screened porch. There is a hole in the screen. We have known for years a flying squirrel lived there. My aunt saw it and said it was a Chipmunk I have not seen not lately. But today I saw two heads sticking out. Both were brown except one had a while spot - elongated elliptical spot - on its head. Do fs ever have a white spot? Or are they perhaps the chipmunks after all?

I have a 3 year old male flyer who is in need of a mate. I very much want him to live a full and productive life and, to that end, I want either to adopt him a wife or adopt him out to someone with a lonely female. If I get a female, I plan to build them a huge outside enclosure so that they can raise a family and climb and fly and scamper around as natural as possible within the confines of their home. If I adopt him out to someone, they must provide him with a healthy loving home and a chance to breed and complete his life cycle as God intended. Hi,
I'm about out of options now and I happened across this website. We have a cane field that is small about 200 sq. ft. and the squirrels are chewing down the stalks. They don't even eat them! I have checked into all forms of ways to get them to stay out of the cane, but so far can't find anything that may work. My husband is about to loose patience with them and me at this point. Any suggestions? I love watching them and felt sorry for a couple of them who showed up, now I must have a 100 or so. I live in the Ocala National Forest with all 365k acres, so why my cane?
