Goodmorning friends,

I had to chuckle at this post. Just think about this- they were blending two households and with the size of their family, one can only imagine how much "stuff" they could collect. It may have been the Depression but John and Zeb had a generally constant source of income- and I am sure that there were constant needs that were often met by things saved from other uses and times. They tended to save everything with the thought that they may use it. My grandparents were not rich or poor, they were products of the Depression and they often saved and reused. They had their "nice things" too, that were family heirlooms and things that they had obtained over the years. Also, during that time people often payed for services with objects ie; plates, lamps, silver etc. There were also auctions and the like when families moved out of the area or could no longer maintain their land. I think that for that large of a family it was fine for them to be portrayed as having that much.
