I have been very fortunate to meet quite a few famous people. I got to meet all of the main cast of the waltons except Will Geer. He had passed before I even discovered the series. I met most of the Hamner family and lucky enough to become close friends which I cherish.
They made quite a few movies up our way. My husband was a police officer at the time and did many pay duties. I got to meet James Garner, Mary Tyler Moore and some other ones from the Movie (not so famous)"Heart Sound". Did you ever hear about the Movie "A Matter of Sex" Well my daughter my one son and myself where in it as extras and we got to hang out with Lee Grant Director her daughter Dinah Manoff of (Empty Nest Series)Jean Stapelton and her daughter, also Judge Reinhold. Tom Harvey (canadian actor)by the way the title was misleading. It was the story of the Wilmar 8 who worked in a bank, who were overlooked for promotions because they were women and they started their own union. Good movie to rent.
My Nephew worked for the film companies and drove the stars around in Toronto. He was driving Holly Hunter around for weeks and he was telling her about the huge fan clubs for The Waltons and about all of the reunions we had been too. She loved that series so she invited us to have a very fancy lunch with her on the set. It was so neat. The movie was a made for tv. story about miners in the south. I have to say that all of these people I met, were so very nice and they all loved making movies in Canada.
