Michael found out via a friend of mine how much I admired her for the way she raised her sons to respect women as equals and Michael found out about my struggles with multiple sclerosis from a news article written on me that my friend gave her. One day in, I believe Jan of 1997 I got a 3 page letter from Michael, didn't think it was real, thought my friend was playing a trick on me but the letter had a P.S. I will send you a lighthouse if I find one, You see, I am a collector of lighthouses. Several months later this lighthouse shows up and the note on the inside was same handwriting and the postmark California, well this time it included contact info. I contacted her and found out it really was her and thanked her for the gift. Our friendship has really taken off, she treats me just like I was one of her own, kicks my rear when it needs kicking.

Michael says sometimes she just cannot answer all fan mail but to write again if she doesn't respond the first time. I cannot say why she was not able to get to fan mail last year, she has asked that be kept private. Make sure you ask for a response if you want one. I'd send another letter around mid March. Right at the moment she doesn't have time for much of anything except work.
