yep i had chores too. by the time i was in first grade i was drying the dishes every night, setting and clearing the supper table, taking out the garbage, feeding my cat, and making my bed every morning.
when i got into 7th grade the chore of ironing my clothes and hanging out/folding the wash was added. On Saturday we cleaned the house and i had to clean my room--vaccuum, dust, and change the sheets. About the only thing i didn't have to do was cook!

My dad did the outside work but i would help with raking the leaves or watering the rose garden.

when my kids grew up there were more to share the chores, but there were also more chores to go around. For many years we had a wood stove, so it was part of their job to stack the wood and bring it in to the house. When the boys got older they mowed the lawn with a riding mower.
we also had a vegetable garden so they learned to harvest the vegetables, take care of watering and weading, as well as helping with snapping green beans and shelling peas.

they all knew how to wash and dry dishes and take care of their rooms, and by the time they went off to college they were also taking care of their own laundry.
