We actually had 2 large gardens and it was our job to water and weed and then pick the vegetables. Eventually we were expected to plant the vegetables and spray the vegetables for bugs. At 7, I trimmed our yard with a pair of hand trimmers and then at 9 I also mowed our acre of a yard, helped put in hay and did most household chores especially dishes, setting the table and clearing the dishes, dusting, taking out the trash and making beds etc. We did not watch much TV or get bored for there was always something to do.
I do have chores for my girls to do. They are 6 & 8 and are expected to make their beds, dry dishes and help set the table and clear it. They moan and groan about it too.
