Subject: I found Diana's thoughts about John and Stephan particularly interesting in light of what we were discussing the other day. Is it OK to post the little snippet inside since it is just commentary on an already published piece? I am surprised that Diana doesn't think Stephan has ever acted on his attractions in the past (after all she should know since he is completely her creation). Seems my hopes for he and John really connecting in any significant way in Scottish Prisoner are likely to be dashed. SIGH!

"With Stephan, he has the sharing, though it has to be masked—and yet matters are clearly understood between them, in terms both of friendship, kinship (as men drawn to men; not actively as gay men, since I doubt that Stephan's ever acted on such an attraction), and their sense of duty and obligation as soldiers and officers; thus John can give absolution, even if he can't take it, and therefore find some comfort—which he couldn't, with Percy."
