Subject: I smiled at the 'swashbuckling' too. There are lots of words I'd use to describe LJ but this isn't one *G*.
In reply to: kgp 's message, "I was amused that the introduction described him as "Swashbuckling" - not the first adjective that comes to my mind thinking of John but I guess it fits - sort of. I liked it as well, going to reread it as John's stories are always complex. I wish Diana hadn't had spacial constraints with this story - it read like an abridgement and there's more I want to know. I was very disappointed with Malcolm Stubbs though I understand, sort of. He's been away for nearly two years and had married Olivia mere months before deployment. They really had no courtship and barely time to know one another before he left. Also amused at John geting into difficulties over women." on 13:00:56 03/21/10 Sun

  • A surprising amount of the time, the word I would use to describe Lord John would be "resigned", but that doesn't make good blurbs. (NT) -- Susannah, 04:32:08 03/22/10 Mon

  • He's certainly no coward - it's an interesting comparison though - Jamie always seems ready for rough action, even Claire described him as fierce in aspect (I think). John is so polished and in control that for him to 'break character' and engage in fisticuffs at a party or shed his coat and get his hands dirty or charge a citadel is almost surprising.
