I have been reading all the posts here on this board and feel that I need to say something. I occasionally read these board but usually don't post my opinions because I see how a simple reply can be misunderstood or dissected. I have been reading this board more in the last month since I have heard from pageant directors and parents that there are attacks on me and the pageant I just directed, Miss Young International USA.
I just want to say that I am very pleased with our two new winners. They have already proved to be marvelous titleholders by adjusting to a busy schedule of appearances, events, interviews, etc.
I would have been happy with any of this year's contestants winning the title. They were all so wonderful and we all became very close. The contestants themselves have also become very close friends. It was a very nice environment to be around these girls who are in competition with each other but yet were supportive at the same time.
I have not received ONE negative phone call from any contestant or family member addressing issues of unfair judging, treatment or ANYTHING. I would hope that whoever is upset with me would call me and personally discuss the issues they have rather than use these message boards to try and stir problems.
There is no controversy with the pageant. The judging was as fair as it could be. If any of you read the bios of the judges, you would be very impressed that they all have diverse backgrounds. There is no way I could have fixed the pageant because I don't even personally know all these judges. Its an insult to my integrity to say that I would do this.
And...about me claiming stardom by helping girls but not my sister. For anyone who knows me personally would know that I was very disappointed with my sister because she didn't want help from anyone, including my husband who was her personal trainer and her directors. It is a touchy subject because she really regrets the way she did things. She is turned off by pageants because of the way she was treated by her directors after her reign and by what she has read about herself on these boards. She is much more sensitive than I am and took thing much harder than I would have.
I enjoy helping girls in pageants. I feel that they can gain a lot from them, especially if they avoid the negative aspects. I have never claimed "stardom" by helping girls in pageants...take credit yes! When I help girls, I am not going to lie by saying that I don't become emotionally attached to them. I don't help very many girls. Just the ones that take it seriously and really want to win. Thats not to say that I don't offer advice and encourage girls whenever I am given the chance.
That's about all I want to say at this time. Like I said if anyone has issues pertaining to the MYI pageant, they are more than welcome to call me about it. As for personal attacks, thats fine...attack all you want. I will NOT respond to any negativity on this board. You TOO are more than welcome to call me and tell me how you feel about me to my face or you can use these boards as your scapegoat. Like I said, I am not responding.
And for anyone else who is on this board reading these messages, I apologize that you are being exposed the nasty side of pageantry. Its the side that I have always tried to avoid. Don't believe everything you read on these boards. Most of the time its negative and not productive.
I am sorry that I am taking your time to read this and I am sorry that I am even having to spend my time writing this.

I was there at the Miss Teen Hawaii USA pageant last year and yipee my girl won. She was 5 paces ahead of the rest of the girls in all categories. In fact she was sooo good it was shown on OC16 and now she's in the new SMART magazine. Go get em Emma green is your color, green as in money and envy by others. I was just saying that there were alot of factors that kept Emma out of the top 15. Maybe she did have too much makeup on, but you need to remember that these girls usually do their own hair and makeup at Nationals with a pageant crew that helps for touch ups. Her makeup was not nearly as distracting as the girls who over-tanned themselves. I also dont think her gown kept her out of the top 15. Maybe she didnt do her best in interview. Who knows. But do we really know for sure if they are? I'm brand new to the whole pageant thing but really hope my gal has a fair chance to win. She has no connections to anyone important in the pageant system, has no rich family, has no mom or sister or uncle judging or running. What she does have is PLENTY ALOHA and a desire to be positive. To me, that's way better anyway. If it is true that the pageant is "rigged" then why does anyone bother? Are the judges allowed to personally know and even be related to contestants? Does someone regulate that? Either way, pretty is as pretty does and any girl who knows in her heart that she could win because of connections instead of true inner bueaty should not even run in the first place. BOTH GIRLS HAVE BEEN A CONTESTANT IN THE STATE PAGEANT, AMANDA NUMEROUS TIMES AND KRISTEN STEPHENSON PINO. chanel is somewhere in the caribbean with her boyfriend. radasha is still here. justine is back. jonelle is here. juliet has a new job. jennifer is in texas. emma is in college in calif. sonya is married and living in LA. melissa was living in virginia but back in town. serena has a new pageant title. of course trini is still doing local news. brooke lee is now a mom living in LA. past these title holders years there is little interest in their lives so not much news about their whereabouts.

Its slow going but I'm still working on my Historical State Pageant Photo archive... I'm continuing to trawl the internet and have found some awesome new pics in the past few days... but I'd still like your help!

If anyone has photos from past state pageants - scanned or digital, I'd LOVE to have them for my collection...

I'm basically looking for ANY photos from state pageants... any state, any year. The last time I put this message out I received some AMAZING photos from past Maine, Connecticut, Kansas, Oklahoma, & Missouri pageants from the 1990s... as well as some great 2000s photos from other states. ANYTHING WILL BE APPRECIATED!

Emma got her dress through Eric and Takeo. I believe it was from neiman marcus, but you could contact them and they'd probably tell you. okay lets get this show on the road....forget all the speculation about the girls running in the miss hawaii usa/miss teen hawaii usa pageant. there are just too many unexpected surprises.....it is happening more often than not that the people's choice is not the winner. So again we scan the lineup of girls, keep your fingers crossed and just maybe this year your sign and your favorite girl's will lineup exactly...bingo.

Several titleholders have already been contacted, but we are searching now particularly for contacts to some of the earlier titleholders we have been unable to locate. Of course, we know many may no longer be in Hawaii for various reasons. We will be taping a short interview with each titleholder to be shown along with her on-stage appearance and would also be interested in filming an interview with formers who may be unable to attend the pageant itself.
