The winner for the teen division, the family's status with the community and with money played a big part on her winning. Couple of the judges are good friends with the family. This is asolutely not fair. In the Miss Division,it was about who you know and what you can offer. What is the cost to buy you a crown and sash?? This matter should be looked into. The Miss Hawaii USA & Miss Hawaii Teen USA Pageant will be held Dec. 16 at the Sheraton Waikiki Ballroom. The $300 entry/production fee remains the lowest of the 51 state pageants. The first orientation will be held Sept. 1st at the 2Couture offices in downtown Honolulu.

Every so often this happens and scrolling down to find the most updated messages is like raking your fingernails across a chalkboard..SO IRRITATING! Updated messages keep us informed of happenings and doings and we shouldn't have to hunt and seek them. Do tell me....Do we need to know who is in the running for the Miss Florida pageant because it is plastered on our Hawaii messageboard in huge banner style... Old message will often pop up if someone posted a reply to it! So if you see an old post you should scroll down and see the "new" comment posted, which shouldnt be out of sync. Also, these boards are open for anyone to post (like yourself). So if someone from Florida wants to post updates, they can. If the moderator of this board doesnt want it there, they can remove it. Both Radasha & Jennifer represented Hawaii fantastically at Baltimore. Overall, I was fine with the final results. Tara is beautiful and I'm sure she'll do well at Miss Universe. Of course I wish some others had advanced further, but that's life. I went there not really expecting to like Baltimore but found it to be a very interesting city with lots of funky quircky neighborhoods & shops. I took the city bus most of the time I was there and had no problems whatsoever. I actually LOVED the music at the pageant this year. We tracked down their CD at a used CD shop while there. They always look way better than the outside city scenic shots indicate, and I wish they would have each been live on camera in the theatre. I enjoyed the venue completely..although it was FREEZING during rehersals! I also took a few side trips to DC and Annapolis. The made for TV film was shot entirely on Oahu. Johnelle Anderson, Miss Teen Hawaii contestant is on the cover of a local magazine...Such a beautiful girl. Both Takeo and Eric Chandler are participating artists in "Art, the language everyone Understands". Their art work will be showcased at the opening Friday, June 2 at the Louis Pohl Gallery on Nuuanu. With that and her modeling experience topping it off with the pageant title she is on her path to nirvana..... Doors open and eyes popping, the focus is on pageant titleholders. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to reach for the stars... a lifetime of fame and fortune can happen for the girl if she is smart, ambitious and make things happen for herself. Alot of girls just dont make the connection....opportunities missed...never to come back round again. The Miss Hawaii USA/Miss Hawaii Teen USA pageant will take place on Nov. 16, 2006 at the Waikiki Sheraton Hotel. The Miss Teen USA pageant will revisit Palm Springs for their pageant in August, running back to back with the Miss Universe pageant which will be kicking up heels in LA in July. All is good! Kinda odd that the pageant will be held on Nov. 16, which is a Thursday! This pageant is normally on the weekends. According to Ryan Brown, the new Miss Hawaii director, the pageant this year will have many new pretty faces, and a few other familiar ones. But a note of caution before you judge the book by its cover he also says there is no front runner... There are just 3 contestants doing something other than the hula and there are 11 hula dancers, Geez! Rather than wait for girls to showup at the front door, pageant directors should do selected recruiting, seeking out true talent and beauty...It's a given but what these contestants seem to have in common is alot of self esteem and lackluster talent. Pretty girls are dime a dozen and it takes more than a pretty face to make it through the maze. A girl can hit the jackpot if she survives the infamous interview and making it through with a strong talent. In the case of pageants and not developmental milestones, it's the ability to speak before walking.. It's time for a change.... [ Post a Reply to This Message ]

I'm looking forward to the pageant tonight and best wishes to all the candidates. Personally, I love to see hula and Polynesian dance performed as talent. But one has to admit, 11 of 14 contestants performing hula/Polynesian dance is a "hula heavy" show! I would say it favors someone doing something other than hula for a win....don't you think?
