*Updates!*

My site, Dancing on Dreams, (http://geocities.com/irishdancers1) has had several new updates.

The dresses section has also been running a little short of dresses, so many have been selling! If you have a used dress, shoes, kilt or other dance item, come visit my site. You can then email me with the info on what you have to sell and I'll create an ad for you...free of charge. http://geocities.com/irishdancers5. Occasionally geocities will shut down this page when too many people try to access it at one time. I appreciate your patience when this happens...its very annoying I know, but please be sure to come back at a later time. :)
(Side note.....I recently got my first solo dress!! I'd love to hear what everyone thinks...pictures located at http://geocities.com/irishdancers8/mydress.html)

Bravenet is now back up and running and so my links page now works....but, I lost a great many links. I need you guys to help me add more!! You can do it yourself, and add as many as you like....simply visit http://pub35.bravenet.com/freelink/show.php?usernum=2996160248&cpv=1 - and click "Add your Link" at the top. After you hit send, the new link will appear immediately and you can add more, if you wish.

Judy Tatum's site for Irish dancing solo dresses (www.thebestdressedltd.net) has been updated. Irish dresses section totally redone with smaller pictures/thumbnails for faster loading. When clicked, each picture blows up really large and shows all the fantastic detail of each dress. Come check it out!

Hi guys
My name is Ian Creaner. I am from Cork but I live in Istanbul.

I am about to start up a dancing school here. I have found a premises, a bit pricey, but I am hopeing to get enough dancers to at least cover the rent.

Here is what I need. I must advertise really well to get the ball going. I have no decent photos of River Dance or LOTD. If any body could send me some at uighbhean@hotmail.com, it would get the ball rolling with an decent ad.

I guess I am trying to open a new frontier for Irish dancing here.

I was at the Yonge/Eglinton Shopping Centre in Toronto today and there was a concert. Two Irish Dancers were there. One was named Mary, and the other was Jennifer. One of the dancers used to attend the Butler-Fearon School. Does anyone who might have been there know who either of these two amazing dancers are?

Hi, I am new to Toronto because I moved here for university and was looking to get back into Irish dancing. I danced between 13-16 with another school but then had to quit. I'd love to start again, can anyone suggest me some schools with contacts? I have noticed the Johnson School and was interested but i think it's off of runnymede subway or something? I am really new to Toronto and so anything outside of the downtown core is a bit confusing and daunting for me-since I don't know the area--if someone could just tell me all about it!!! :p thanks so much!!

I make photo italian charms and it was brought to my attention by Kathi (thank you Kathi) that many dancers would love to have a better selection of charms since there is so few available. Kathi has inspired me to create some charms for Irish dancing. If you would like to see my site, here it is. I'm working on other charms for tap dancing, sychronized skating, synchronized swimming, girl's hockey, etc. All the sports/activities that our young girls enjoy that don't get enough attention.

· I am very sad to say that the solo dress that I put up for sale at Nationals was stolen. It is a beautiful Cranberry pinkish-red with aqua and silver designs, approximate child's size 12. It was last seen around 4:00 pm on Sunday. Below is the link to a picture of the dress. PLEASE, if you have any information on this dress, please email me. Hotel security is investigating, but if the dress is returned or paid for, no questions will be asked. I'm hoping it is just a dreadful mistake. Thanks for any help anyone can give. There is a dress site for selling Western Canadian Dresses set up at Scoil Ard Na Greine's website. If you would like to post your dress and you live in Western Canada, feel free to send an e-mail with the measurements, a decription and a picture. This is also useful if you are thinking of buying a new dress locally and to save on shipping (but dont want to drag it around to every feis!) Thanks!

There seems to be some confusion regarding this years Nationals “Dinner Dance”, as a committee member please let me clarify a few things. In lew of the customary “Sit Down Dinner” and formality, we have decided to hold a “Hoedown/Shindig”. Dinner will not be served. We will serve hors d’oeuvres and snacks with the customary cash bar, thus allowing us to lower the cost of admission to $30. Our emphasis this year will be on entertainment: line dancing, impersonators and other surprises. Country/Western attire. This is an adult/mature young adult event. For ticket information please contact tirnasully@aol.com or rmg30@optonline.net .

What do you guys think about teachers who have satallite schools that they never/very infrequently visit? It really upsets me. As much as I love our non-TCRG teacher (who plans to take her TCRG soon) I probably wouldn't have joined this particular school without the weight of the TCRGs name behind it. When we *were* actually having meetings with the TCRG all the dancers who wanted to compete were expected to make the 3 hour drive to her home city to see her. Now that opportunity isn't even available to us anymore. The TCRG has recently opened a school in another city, and pretty much ignores our branch.

I've toyed with the idea of writing/calling IDTANA and reporting this, but I don't know if it would help or hurt. I don't want to get anyone into trouble...just want things to be the way they're supposed to be.

Anyone in Toronto area who would like to join a ceili group for experienced dancers only please email me. Eight week program is beginning April 1, 2003, Avenue Road and Eglinton area. No set dancing, just ceili's. With exdancers only we should be able to cover many of the 30 required for the TCRG exam.

Looking for adults who used to compete in Irish Dancing and would like to dance again with kindered spirits, non- competively, to join a weekly ceili group in central Toronto area.

Over the years I have gone to a few of the different ceilis around Toronto, and while they are wonderful for many, for ex Irish dancers it's a little frustrating dancing with adult beginners. It would be great to dance with others who don't even have to think of what their feet and hands are doing, who just know the basics inside out.

It's also a wonderful way to study for a TCRG exam, as there are 30 ceili's to learn.

If you or anyone you are still in touch with that used to Irish dance competitively are interested in dancing again for fun and fitness please respond soon, as I found an available hall that has a wood floor, and lots of charm (and not in a basement) in the Yonge/Eglinton area available from March 2003.

Failing that, does any one know what the best source of these shoes would be in Southern Ontario - I live just east of Oshawa.

Thanks in advance for any help - if you could cc your responses to my e-mail address, pyrsconr@sympatico.ca, I would appreciate it.

How long does it take to go from Beginner to the highest level of irish dance? is it to late for a 14 year old to just begin dancing with hopes to one day join Lord of the Dance? In a feis, would a beginner 14 year old still have to compete against little kids in a beginner category??

I have seen the idea on this board and others that it is time for a new generation of IDTANA to stand up and vote out that old guard that has represented nothing that brought any of us into this classic and beautiful art form. Let me propose a first shot in this revolution.

From this day forward, show your support for new leadership within IDTANA by wearing white shirts and tops at all Feises and Oireachtases. White being the color that brings the Green and the Orange of the Irish flag together to form one nation. Let it bring us Solidarity for a new day.

I am selling my solo dress - main colors white (gabardine) and gold (metallic mesh lame); abstract bird design in purple, navy blue, lime, coral, hotpink and black, embroidery and applique, very shiny and bright, stands out on stage, lots of rhinestones.

Approximate measurements:
Bust 34/35
Waist 26/27
Neck to waist 16
Skirt length 18 (about 2 inches to let out)
Upper sleeve length 24
