I am selling my much loved championship solo costume. It is a beautiful Kelly green, orange, black and Gold. The colours look incredible on stage. Open/Prizewinner dancers also look stunning in it as well. It would fit a 13-small 16 year old (my older cousin whose 18 can fit into it as well)
There is no picture on any web site that you can see it, but I do have a picture that I can e- mail to you if you are interested. I don't have the exact measuremnts at the moment, but if interested, I will get them to you as soon as possible.

It is a really pretty dress and I am sooooo sad that I have to sell it, but my teacher and parents agree it is time for a new one. (plus it was getting a little snug!!)

Thank you! happy dancing!

P.S- Bloomers and crown included

Just had to rave....has anyone heard of Judy Tatum? She makes STUNNING solo and school dresses...I am now having
her make my dress and have been backing and forthing with her a lot. I am making her a new dress site because hers
wasn't very good. She sent me lots of pictures to post on the new site...they are so incredible. From what I understand,
she is only booked till January or so, but has been sewing for 13 years. Just LOOK at the pictures for yourself!! I haven't
gotten all her info up on the site just yet, so please go ahead and email her if you have questions. She makes dresses
exactly how you, her usual price for a super fancy solo dress is $900.00. That includes the headpiece, bloomers and
shipping. =) The new site is at www.thebestdressedltd.net - but be aware some areas are still under construction. If you
decide to email her...PLEASE tell her that Fiona referred her. ;) Thanks

The time has arrived for the parents of Irish Dancers  to have a formal, international association where their needs and grievances can be examined. Such a venue now exists at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/IrishDanceParent
It desires to be positive, proactive and an asset to Irish Dance. It will speak in generalities and not
personalities
. The parents should be helping to shoulder the responsibility of our common heritage.
Better to light one candle than curse the darkness. Please join us today.

Hi all,

I am compiling an ever growing, worldwide listing of Irish Dancing schools that provide classes for adults - whether you are 18 or 80.

If you know of a school that DOES provide classes for adults - please email the schools details ie: School name, where the classes are held, contact details, website URL and also the Teacher's name.

Check out the School's for Jewels pages on the Irish Dancing Jewels site:

i just wanted to counter the negative comment about the nationals but saying what a great time i had. i thought that the stages were great. a little slippy but honestly name one competition when the stages aren't. i thought considering the numbers things ran really smoothly. all the other national commities have never had to plan one with 3000 dancers in mind. the hotel was great. the dinner dance a blast. congradulations to all the canadian schools and to alison reaney-brown, mary brian, yvoughn kelly, eileen and clair mcginley, siobhan reaney, rose johnson and all the others i am forgetting off the top of my head who worked so hard to make this a success. IT WAS!!

First of all, thank you to Brianne for telling me about this whole mess... I wouldn't have known about it otherwise, as I've been trying to get ready for the Nationals and haven't been on the net quite as often. :)

I've erased most, if not all of the accusing or meaner messages that were posted through this whole thing... which kind of disgusted me! Alot of people weren't overly kind with their accusations- next time lets handle this in a more mature manner please! Irish Dance is such an amazing community, and ridiculous accusations before knowing the actual situation is a bit uncalled for, and really at times messes things up. I love having a place to go and chat about dance with people from other schools (as I hope you all do!), but after arguments such as this one where people sometimes make empty accusations, people's feelings get hurt and the atmosphere isn't quite as open.

Lets hope this doesn't happen again! If you have any other problems with the board or a person in general, please feel free to email me at webmaster@Hardshoes.zzn.com or my non-page related email, its_all_good_in_the_dark@hotmail.com instead of posting on the board about it and creating arguments.

Thank you very much for reading this, and happy dancing! :) Lets get back to regular board life, shall we? :)

Heather

It turns out that two or more of us on the board currently have the same IP address... I consider myself fairly knowledgable in computers, have taken college classes in them, and thought this previously impossible, and scoffed at others who claimed to be different people when they had SIMILAR IP addies, and that the only way to use the same IP was if you were on a network, or sharing a computer or internet access in some way. But, I'm trying to take my foot out of my mouth now.

It has to be something with us using Shaw Cable as our internet provider, and something weird going on there. Personally, I'm going to talk to their local rep and find out what the heck is going on, and until then, won't post. I feel bad for others below, it makes them/me sound like we're pretending to be different posters, but actually one person, when this isn't true.

I've dropped a note to Heather, letting her know that the board is a bit of a mess, and hopefully all will get cleared up soon.

My apologies for my part in this. I realize this all may sound crazy, and like another attempt to deceive, but there's not much I can do about it.

Hi! I stumbled across this great resource as I was searching the web for step dancing lessons here in the Toronto area. I was wondering if anyone would have any recommendations on a great teacher in Toronto? I've step danced and highland danced pretty much all my life (although not so much the last 10 years) - but I'm dying to learn all these new great steps I see people doing...I only know the basics. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!! Thanks!

I have heard that the feis will be run along with the Oireachtas. Does anyone know if there will be Prelim and Open at the regular feis, since there are usually US dancers that attend this feis and therefore cannot attend the "O"? Just trying to plan in advance. I hope someone can help.

Does anyone know if the "floor situation" will be remedied this year at the Stewart Feis? It was so bad last year; so very dangerous! I hope they are renting floors to put down on the gym floor this year, or something! It was just insane last year!

I will be taking four dresses with me to Montreal/Ottawa Feis' this week end. They are all pictured on my web site in the "currently for sale" section.
www.geocities.com/joann_knot/
Also for sale (immediately following Ottawa feis as my daughter has to wear it that day)will be the red and purple velvet dress with suns and moons on it. This is pictured in the "dresses" section and also on the home page. It is a girl's size 10. Another dress in the "dresses" section is pink, yellow and green velvet and will be for sale after the "Nationals" in July. It has c-shaped designs all over it and is a women's size 12. Feel free to try them on at the week end Feis' and talk to me there. E-mail if you have any questions before then.

Hi all,

as youīve maybe read on other MBīs too, I am DESPERATELY looking for a used solo dress, which Iīd need by 24th May at the latest - b/c I am going to a championship. My seamstress just gave me a call yesterday to tell me my dress wouldnīt be ready in time - so I have not even 3 weeks to go and HAVE NO DRESS !! OMG, Iīm so MAD.

I am 19, slim and tall - main measurements: bust 36, waist 28, total dress length 33/34, sleeve 60-65.

I would be happy to get a damaged dress at a cheap price - I canīt afford more than 300-330 USD/ 450-480 CAD.

PLEASE HELP ME !!!

[ Edit | View ]

Date Posted: 16:37:47 03/13/01 Tue
(wc1-int1.nbnet.nb.ca/198.164.200.214)

Hello all. This will be a VERY generic message as I have only begun to read a bit about 'feuis life'...though I've been interested in irish dancing for quite awhile and have agood background which may help me in starting out..IF that is a possibility!
I am 21 years old, soon to be 22...ANCIENT by Irish dance beginner's standards!!
I took tap and jazz dancing in my hometown of Fredericton, New Brunswick, from the ages of 3 to 9, and then continued on with learning Canadian step dancing from age 9 to about 11.
However, illness struck me down after that, and I was unable to advance my little dancing career, but it still feels totally unnatural for me, not to be dancing.
I have a normally small frame, but have obviously put on weight..I weigh about 140 pounds now, and I'm 5'4.
I realize you must be healthy and in excellent shape to lift your body weight off the ground in the soft shoe dances, etc.
So though I am passionate about celtic dance and I know I can do it if the facilities are there..I am extremely flexible, physically, that is, I'm not ignorant as to certain basics a beginner must have, and now, after scanning several feis and dance related sites, I'm more intimidated than evenr, and sarting to get totally discouraged!
I'd like to hear from an adult or someone my age, an adjudicator, or experienced feis parent, regarding whether there is ANY HOPE for someone almost 22 who might make an EXCELLENT Irish dancer (I'm 100% celtic too, and don't forget, I can step dance anyway..)
(I was not trained in Highland dance as my mother feared it was too competitive for me, and she wanted me to hae a fun, easy childhood...I wish she HAD put me in Highland dancing!)
If anyone on this board can tell me of any schools within reasonable distance, I'd love them for it!!..ie: as I live in Fredericton, NB, it would be reasonable to travel to Saint John (A 1 1/2 hour drive) for lessons, but crazy to try and get to Moncton on a regular basis!(A 3 or 4 hour drive!)
I am very familiar with the whole Celtic scene as I grew up on it...ate it, slept it, breathed it...I also play the fiddle, and am an enthusiastic supporter and attendee of all the celtic cultural events that go on around here ;-) And I want to get back on a stage.
though this would be more of a hobby to start off with..('m seeking a career in musical performance)I am nevertheless more than willing to do the diet and excersise thing, etc,etc..and make the necessary sacrifices to learn this art form if there is a group of adult beginners near me!
Anyway, this post is way too long..my point..please, anyone in the know, an adult preferably with alot of experience, if such a person could inform me as to my chances of being accepted to begin dancing at all, and whether or not there are classes near my area that welcome older beginners, I would be extremely grateful for any insight into this bewildering new world.
Please reply with any pertinent information to my email address as listed above (or click on my name.)
Sincere thanks,
Leslie.

Thrilled to have our own MB and all, but(just a personal opinion here) have you thought about changing the format to have it look something like KDREW's board? It is just that I find it somewhat easier to read & follow. Good luck with the board & keep up the great job!
