I remember growing up along the river, that each spring these nasty little flying insects would be swarming everywhere. I was always told they were SHAD FLIES and would be gone when the Shad run was complete, and you know what they were gone.

Here on The Outer Banks of North Carolina the crabbers have finished setting out their Peeler Traps but as of this morning none of those soon to be Soft Shell Crabs have been brought in, everything is ready for the start of the 6 week season for harvesting these tasty crabs.
