In that case the question about the precise nature of the experience (palace) remains.

More interesting to me is whether Lahiri Mahasaya told them that the Babaji was (physically) immortal.

Some yogis of India are said to reach a ripe old age of over a hundred, maybe two hundred years. I find this believable as these are usually Hatha Yogis and they may have managed to delay the age process. But everything beyond that would be a sensation.
