I do not agree with the idea that initiation is the key to all success.

Firstly, before samyama, and according to Patanjali, your mind and evolutionary state have to be significantly purified and this is only possible by going through the lower yogas before you meet a guru.

Secondly, the first rishi didnt need a guru.

Thirdly, and most importantly, if initiation is the key to all success, what is the purpose of practising yoga? What is the point in learning to concentrate? Why dont you just go get a guru who gives you nirvikalpa samadhi instantly? This is surely contradictory.
