i dont think that it would be the best way at all. There are some years where gymnasts are ill or injured and do not compete in these competitons. So how would you get round this problem? Also you cant just select a squad from winners only as all gymnasts have there up and down days at competitions. I think the way BG do their testing now is fair! Routines currently do count as part of the testing.
