I am often amazed at the things my kids didn't learn in school. Does anybody else remember having to diagram a sentence? And geography.... pfft. Please. My 19 year old could not name the 3 countries in NORTH AMERICA. (keep in mind she grew up mostly in Africa and Europe, but STILL. SHEESH) Reading is definitely in decline due to the easy access to 499 TV stations, dvd, video games, computer, etc.., but to be missing out on what I consider basic knowledge in school certainly adds to the problem. Scary.
