Vaguely she heard him speaking to her, through the haze and fog in her mind and she knew he was worried, she could hear it in the tone of his voice. Her eyes welled up with tears as she realized there was no way she could comfort him when she didn't even know if she could make it through this herself and the last thing she wanted was for him to not understand how much she cared if, indeed, she didn't make it through the birthing of their babies. Something inside of her, some instinct, told her that he wouldn't be able to feel the pain exactly like she could, that it would just let him know that she was in danger or in pain, like it had before when Lallybroch had been attacked and she had been injured. Knowing he wouldn't hurt because of her, she finally let down the barrier in her mind and so many thoughts and emotions came flooding out at her that she nearly gasped at the power behind it. It only took a second to realize that he was there, in her mind, in an entirely new capacity then ever before and it nearly took her mind off of her agony for a brief moment. Swells of love came from her, flowing into him, letting him know that she loved him no matter what happened. While he wouldn't be able to take away her pain, he could now give her some of his strength, along with his fire, to maybe help her get through it a bit easier. Really though, the only one who could get her through this was herself. She was about to lift her head and take a deep breath when another contraction hit, this time stronger then any before and she cried out, writhing lightly in the nest. Her eyes closed tightly and her claws dug into the ground as another egg slipped freely into the world, followed closely by a second. Unfortunantly, only one of those eggs had a breathing occupant in it and that breathing occupant was apparantly a bit frustrated with being tossed about because tiny little claws were clearly visible pushing against the leathery barrier of the egg. Bree's cries were continous now, anguished roars of pain and oblivion. Even her mind was completely blank, focused only on dealing with the pain.
