KQV didn't die because it was a news station. It had a terrible signal for one thing. It didnt do enough to sound like a major metropolitan news station. It had a lot of good qualities, but KDKA's stick and its news department could make a more news centric format work. THe talk thing is done there. There's really no local talk talent that has made an impact of any significance since Pintek and Honzman. Time to try a new approach. Remember, KDKA in its heyday had 90/6 in the afternoon. Bill Steinbach wasn't spouting opinion and taking calls.
