Subject: B 94 coming back a 3rd time?

From radioinsight

Is “B94” about to return from the grave in Pittsburgh yet again?
CBS Radio registered B94Radio.com and B94Pittsburgh.com on Wednesday. The station’s heritage WBZZ call letters now reside at CBS Hot AC “100.7 Star“.

“B94” was the primary CHR in the Pittsburgh market from its launch in 1981 until Clear Channel debuted “96.1 Kiss” WKST in 2000. After a failed rebranding as “93.7 BZZ” in 2003, the station flipped to Rock “93.7 K-Rock” in 2004. After a brief stint as Hot Talk “93.7 The Zone” in 2007, the station returned to CHR and the “B94” brand in October of that year. The second resurrection of B94 would last until its flip to Sports “93.7 The Fan” KDKA-FM in 2010.

With KDKA-FM firmly entrenched in the market and successful, we would expect a return of B94 to the 93.7 frequency this time around. But an HD Radio subchannel or potentially a translator could be in the cards. This is complete speculation but Broadcast Communications’ 620 WKHB currently is heard on 92.3 W222CB Irwin, 94.1 W231BM Pittsburgh, and 102.1 W271CW Pittsburgh and the contours of 92.3 and 102.1 completely overlap those of 94.1 making it redundant. As well could the new version of “B94” will take on iHeartMedia’s market leading Classic Hits “94.5 3WS” WWSW focusing on the 1980s/90s hits of WBZZ’s heyday as opposed to another attempt at CHR?
