Subject: False Dilemna

If I were to slip into black
Like the blanket that covers me
What would I see but what I always see
When my eyes close at night?

And now they are swollen
So pink and tight,
I can't believe how perfect you are
In those moments before I cry.

There you are,
My silent figure,
Across the way
Or way across,
So far,
I wonder
If you'll stop
Or if you'll run
Until you're dead.

Death seems a place
Pure and serene,
A sanctuary for which I dream.

If's only an if,
And you only confuse me
Until I can't keep from screaming.

Or maybe I'm just laughing
To keep you within my arms.

Or maybe it's something beyond this false dilemna.

I know nothing
But the clearness I feel
When black lays its hands on my throat.
