In reply to: stop it already! 's message, "Ladies! Please!!! Stop asking for money on facebook for your hobby!!! Make your request private to frineds and family. I find it so utterly tacky that pageant ladies (espcially the Mrs. contestants) ask their fellow pageant sisters for money." on 03/02/14 Sun

No matter your age, I believe it is classless to ask people that you do not know well for handouts so that you can buy clothes or pay non-MAO entry fees. I am fine with asking close family and friends or going to businesses that you or your parents (if you are young and live at home) patronize.

You need to take the time to go directly to any individual who you want to help you or find a connection to that person if you don't know them well enough to approach them directly. Blanket requests for money are just lazy. If you want my money, at least have the decency to write me a personal note. I even got a personal note from a neighbor asking me for $50 for his charity; you are asking for money for clothing, ad pages, and entry fees and cannot even take the time to write me personally. If you can't respect me enough to ask me to my face via a personal written note (even email would be fine), then I will never respect you or donate to you.

As for being kind, I am! I have helped several teen and miss contestants. The contestants I help know me and asked me personally, not using some blanket GoFundMe email.

The GoFundMe requests from Mrs contestants are extra pathetic. One request said that the money was all going to help charity, but never names a charity and wants the checks written directly to the mrs contestant. Asking for money as a Mrs essentially tells the world that both you and your husband cannot budget properly to pay for your hobby. Does your husband ask his friends to pay for his golf lessons or golf membership? If you cannot afford it, then welcome to adulthood: you cannot have it. Being lazy and sending out GoFundMe requests to people that you never even met is especially disgusting. And I did not appreciate the reminder email either.

Contestants should stop soliciting on Facebook when DIRECTORS stop soliciting for contestants on Facebook! Directors tell candidates to use EVERY opportunity to help them pay the entry fee, etc. Do you think the director cares how the person gets the money to compete? NO! All they care about is the entry fee being paid! If you don't want to donate to help someone live their dream then DON'T, but don't criticize them for using the outlets available to them. Call any director and ask them if they care & they will say NO and will encourage it if it means that person walks across their stage. (NT)Raise Money any way you can.... (legally)03/22/14 Sat
